Joining is no problem... Look at Lucy's blog for the joining as you go technique... Makes life so much easier. I am midway through an epic hexagon blanket and it means that I don't have to finish all the blocks and then join, I do them as I go and it's easy to see what I have done.

It might be tricky! I find rows much harder than rounds, although I'm getting better. What puts me off the ripple is counting the chain and getting the right number of stitches in the first row.

I've just made my first blanket of granny squares and I am so pleased with it, it's lovely. I did lots of different squares for the middle so have learnt lots of new techniques and had several rows of the same but different coloured squares round the outside iyswim.

Tbh I found joining reAlly easy, just double crocheted them together. Doing the border was great, you could see it all coming together and it was so satisfying.
I am now planning to do the dses hexagonal blankets from attic24 and then probably one for our tent too.

I will learn how to join as I go with the hexagons. My face looks a bit like this when I look at the pictures on attic24's website at the moment but I'm sure I'll get it once I get started.

Just waiting on more wool nobody tell DH though

Never posted on A and C before but noticed ur post! I run a women's craft group called Crafty Birds, and whilst we normally bring our own things to work on this week we decided to all learn crochet together. My goodness the swearing and cursing! I ended up with a lump of tangled matted wool. IT'S SO HARD!

I think a granny stripe is a piece of cake - it's just the same stitch over and over.

I am doing a granny stripe ATM - its my first big project after learning and a couple of little things. Just following attic24 instructs at first but in the swing now.

Finding it great - much easier than ripple, which I tried before and just couldn't get the stitches to match up but I think doing the stripe I've cracked crocheting into the chain a bit more! A tip I followed was to use a hook one size bigger for your chain, definitely helped me see the stitches more easily.

thanks ladies, I ha e started a tester for the granny stripe as a baby blanket for a friend. 3 stripes in and its a piece of cake! just having to remember which row I'm on for the turns that pattern was lovely
