Paint, Fablon or fabric?

I seem to have collected lots of cardboard boxes which I would like to decorate before putting to good use. Various sizes & shapes, but mostly nappy boxes, shoe boxes, A4 paper boxes etc.

At first I considered fablon type sticky stuff, but figured I was guaranteed to mess that up and it would be a bit dull. Then I thought of fabric as more variety, but don't know if that would be too time consuming for multiple boxes, especially with a toddler around. Finally am now considering painting them. Spray painting presumably, but what do I know Wink

Any opinions, suggestions or info about sourcing this stuff cheaply very gratefully received.

you could spray paint the body of the box and cover the lid with fabric.

Fabric is just as hard to cover things as fablon is. I tend to use spray tac, by spraying the box lid, you place your fabric upside down and the lid upside down on top, and then snip the edges to fit, you can make nice folded edges that look neat. The spray tac holds things well, you can also use it for wall paper. Spray tac is a contact adhesive, so it stays tacky until something is stuck to it. It is ready for use straight away and is super strong.

Just do it outside on a dry sunny day, the fumes are intense as I found out, with my head stuck in the footwell of DH's rebuild project MGBGT, sticking on soundproofing.

Oooh that's a fab idea, thanks KelleStar hadn't thought of doing both. That'll look fantastic. And thanks for the tip about the fumes, will be a bit tricky with only a balcony & an inquisitive toddler, but I'll manage Grin
