Seed stitch problem :(

I found a lovely pattern on Ravelry for a striped seed stitch/stockinette stitch blanket but my seed stitch keeps coming out as a rib!! I've tried it twice and worked 5 or so rows each time (to give it time to develop, hahaha!) and have followed the pattern to the letter but it just doesn't seem to be working.

Can anyone help? I feel like crying!

What a star! I won't start tonight, I'll be up for hours otherwise! I'll report back when I've got going though. Thanks again Smile

Well done tripot, thanks for that. Just a weeny thing - rows 14-16 top right seed st section looks transposed to me?

Yes, well done SlimJimBra! You were right. I had earlier started the pattern purl knit and then changed it to knit purl, and not completely updated the chart. Tis now fixed.

How's the blanket going littlenuttree? I have started on a variation of this pattern for a blanket myself and was thinking of you and your blanket while I was knitting :)

Sorry SlimJimBra! I have just picked this up again and only noticed your January message. I'm frustrated with it to be honest, it looks so simple, but by the time I get to the 2nd or 3rd row of going between knitting or purling, a rib keeps appearing. I can't understand, I'm following tribpot's pattern exactly too Sad I'm now 27wks pg so still have a while!! Grin

If you want to do a seed stitch rather than a rib you need a purl stitch over a knit stitch and a knit stitch over a purl one. So just look at what you have ended with on the previous row, then do the opposite. That goes for everywhere, just look at what presents itself, then do the opposite on the return row. Never mind the pattern. I think $5.50 for a pattern that isn't right is daylight robbery, but I would make a note on Ravelry where it says: report a problem with this page. I looked for it and couldn't see it, not even when I had logged in.
