Out of interest why not make the saucepan one?
Seem to remember it being dead easy, but if no hob, then no help - sorry.

Saucepan is easier as you see what's happening so can stir as appropriate to combat lumps, and whip it off heat at the right moment.
Could DS help by playing with it afterwards? Smile

rummums playdough recipe

you will need

  • 1/2 cup of salt
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 tablespoon cream of tartar
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 cup of water
  • food colouring
  • glitter (optional)
  • small pot of essence added to water to make up 1 cup (optional)

combine ingredients in a saucepan. Heat gently, stirring all the time. When the dough has a good consistency, take it off the heat and allow to cool.
I often add green colouring and mint essence

enjoy... but beware of it in the carpets because of the colourings....

I have done both and prefer the microwave one as its easier to clean the bowl than the saucepan.
Basically you just use the same recipe for both but cook in microwave.
You need to keep stopping and stirring (every 30 secs or so)it sort of goes drier around the edge so you need to stir into the middle of the bowl and just keep on cooking until it is done - it may take longer than the recipe says and i use a little less water too.

recommend non-stick saucepan if doing it on hob!
