Printing drawings/artwork to sell-- advice pls!

Have you ever got your own drawings/artwork printed? Either to sell as standard prints or as greeting cards? I recently started a facebk page of my drawings and have amazingly had a lot of requests for prints and cards so people can buy them. But I'm totally clueless how/where to get them done (online? Local printers? Quality? Quantity??) and how much to sell them for. They are mostly fairly small sketchy pencil drawings, quite rough & cartoony...
Any one have similar experience??

No personal experience, but a friend does hand sketches on request as a small business. She charges £15 for a 6"x4" picture, but as I said that is hand drawn rather than printed. Good luck with it, sounds like you have quite a talent :)

I have noticed a lot of people print them themselves on quality paper.

I considered doing commissions but tricky as I have a 2 yr old dc and another on the way, so thought if I just stocked up on images and got them printed then it takes the pressure off the drawing side of things! Plus I'm sure people would rather pay less for a print than more for the real thing... Surely?

Screen prints are a happy medium, still an original art work. Personally I wouldn't pay for a home print as it would fade. Has to be giclee for sales.

Good for you I'm an amateur artist but have only given pictures away so far. Friends and family say I should sell them but perhaps one day? I hope it goes well for you. I have loads of artists on my FB list maybe you are?

Professional Giclée printers - very quick, very reasonable, extremely good quality.

Glad I found this thread as I'm thinking of starting a small online business - plus some other outlets - selling my artwork.

My problem is that I'm limited in my technical/IT knowledge. So I have a few questions:

If you scan and then print your own stuff, will this not 'last' at all, then and just fade over time - hence the suggestion of professional giclee printers?

Is it possible to do this yourself, at home with a particular type of printer - or would you need to go through a company like the one mentioned above?

Secondly, with moo.com, how do you send your work? Do you just scan it and then send the jpg file?

I am really thick when it comes to anything related to IT I'm afraid!

Hi you can print around home if you have your own giclee printer but they tend to be quite expensive. Best to get it done with a printing company.

All gave rave reviews....they started off doing kids drawings on to Christmas Cards, but now do individual art work on to cards and postcards now too.

For those of you who have successfully pursued a business in designing cards, printing artwork etc, is it possible to make 'real' money out of it - or just something that's fun to do but not really going to end up as a proper business?
