Toddler superhero cape?

Hi
My soon to be 3 year old is having a super hero themed party at our house.

I figure a cape is a superhero essential and will make eye masks from a piece of soft foam or felt with elastic.

Does anyone have any ideas of what I can make a cape out of that won't cost me a fortune?

I thought of knotting a small sheet but I know that will probably work itself loose and become a stumbling hazard

Any help gratefully received :-)

Could you sew velcro strips onto a sheet and a non special tshirt/ top that way it's secure but not fastened round the neck?

Hope the party goes well.

I did what Dilly suggested, sewed Velcro strips onto a shiny blue material that I brought very cheaply from my local fabric shop. At work we also made capes for the children from bin liners, we slit them then used the sticky Velcro as clasps. We also let them glue feathers, sequins etc on the back so they had their own individual capes.

Have a look on pinterest for superhero costume ideas.. they have all the badge patterns as well if you search them.

When I made a cape for DS I got one of those fleece blankets from Ikea and just cut it to shape - no stitching.

DD went to a superheroes and princesses party (so proud that she chose to be a superhero!) and we attached her cape to the back of a leotard. Just a couple of stiches on each shoulder. Nothing round the neck then to pull and didn;t fall off. Will be easy to take off when they get tired of it but it is now a favourite dressing up costume. We just used a piece of cotton from ebay (an used the rest to make a skirt) but fleece or shiny sounds an excellent idea.
