DH has said he will treat me to the Big Shot.
Trouble is im confused as to whether it would be worth the money as i have seen a lot of negative things said and not a lot of good.
Can you please give me your honest opinion and tell me if it is worth getting the Big Shot.
Thanks

Sizzix from beaniebuddy on ebay.

Big Shot from Rugby crafts

Whichever you decide to go for.

JayzMummy · 05/03/2006 08:57

Ive found a cheaper place on line to buy the Big Shot and they have free P&P. They have loads in stock cus I was in their place yesterday.
Having said that I would still say go for the Sizzix and buy an convertor for the sizzlits.....the new ellison thin cuts are exactly
the same as sizzlits so you can use them in your sizzix machine if you buy a convertor plate too.

Whatever you do, do not buy it from Rugby Crafts! I am still waiting for a long list of items paid for on hte 5th January! I've pretty much given up any hope of getting them!

soapbox · 05/03/2006 10:04

BTW - there are still problems with the cutting plates but this last lot do seem to be much better! I love the big shot as you can rattle through cutting letters really quickly and I batch cut any other sizzlit dies 6 at a time, which means I am building up a nice stock of the one's I use most often in various cards and papers:)

However, I have never had a Sizzix, so I can't compare the two!

Carolinett · 05/03/2006 10:19

Brilliant website reasonable prices, double brilliant if theres free postage on everything Would you take it from\link{http://www.craftydevilspapercraft.co.uk/delivery.asp?action=charges\this} that postage is free.
Glad to see the alphabets were not cheaper than Kim's

Pixiefish it's your fault if you hadn't started the "Cheap sizzix on ebay thread" I won't have ended up buying two new alphabets from Kim. Mind you I did need them , well I think I did, yes I really did need them, anyway it's all your fault Pixiefish.Wink it was a bargin £92.00 including P&P for two alphapets & number UC & LC.

JM going to try the two healing mats with the Big Shot to see if that works, so far I've been lucky with my plates, but if the healing mats work thats really going to work out cheap to replace.

Carolinett · 05/03/2006 10:26

It's not working, try this\link{http://www.craftydevilspapercraft.co.uk/delivery.asp?action=selectcharges\sorry}click on continue next to United Kingdom and it's shows postage £0.00

jenk1 · 05/03/2006 10:35

Oh no im still confused, whats a sizzix converter and what are sizzlets?

OP posts:
Carolinett · 05/03/2006 10:37

Got it derrrrrr, free delivery on items over £15.00

Yorkiegirl · 05/03/2006 10:39

a sizzix convertor means you cna cut other dies on the sizzix. Sizzlits are dies for the sizzix sidekick which are much thinner. You have to use the convertor to cut them on the Sizzix

Carolinett · 05/03/2006 10:53

If you have the original Sizzix Cutting machine, and you want to cut with the new sizlits dies then you need a converter to stick on you Sizzix Cutting machine. The sizllits dies are very thin compared to the original sizzix dies, thats why you need the metal converter to compensate for the space.

First came the Sizzix Cutting machine and the original dies
red dies are large
yellow are medium
green are small

They then invented the sizzlits machine also known as the tagalong, the dies are red but they are square and very thin compared to the original sizzix dies
How a look at the sizzix site and you'll see what I'm waffling about.

If still confussed, and I don't blame you come back with more questions and we'll all try and help
Try\link{http://www.sizzix.com\this}

Carolinett · 05/03/2006 11:01

Sorry should have said Sidekick not tagalong.

When you get into the Sizzix website hover the cursor over the words at the bottom of the page and it will show you pictures of the machines and dies. Good luck

jenk1 · 05/03/2006 11:12

Can the Big Shot do all of these dies then?

OP posts:
Carolinett · 05/03/2006 11:15

Yes including the Ellison dies

jenk1 · 05/03/2006 11:16

So if i go for the Big Shot it will do all this and if i go for the Sizzix i have to get the converter as well, .... im still confused, is the sizzix better than the Big Shot then?

OP posts:
Carolinett · 05/03/2006 11:33

There was a fault with the plates on the first delivery of Big shots to the UK.

I was one of the lucky ones I didn't get mine from Rugby Crafts and my plates have been OK. I think what it is if you have the orinal sizzix machine it's a comfort factor because it feel very sturdy and safe.

The Big shot feels a little flimsey compared and you feel it might brake which unfortunatly it has done for some crafters here.
I like the big shot because you can use a piece of A4 card in it therefore you can make your own appature cards and you can use all the different dies.
Please don't take any recommendations choose your self try them out for yourself.

Go to a local craft shop, get them demostate both tell them you are aware of the fault with the Big shot and ask them if you decide to buy the Big Shot will they replace the plates straight away if they break.
