crochet cushion

Hi

I have made a cushion front constisting of granny squares. I have knitted the back and need to join them together.

My question is would you put some sheer material under the front of the cushion so that you don't see the cushion pad (white) through the holes in the squares.

I have piece suitable and was thinking of hemming it on a machine, and then attaching it to the crochet work in a few places round the edge or would you just forget it and just put the cover straight over the pad.

I've just put them directly onto the cushion, but I can't sew for love nor money.

If it's a feather-based cushion, I'd put a lining as well (to avoid the feathers making their way through), or if it's a cheapy cushion with a crappy cover, then I'd put a lining on too.

it's more that the white of the cushion pad may show through the holes in the design and I think it may look better if the material which is seen is duck egg blue like the cushion front which has that and 3 other toning colours in the design.

just wondered if anyone had done this before. it is a bit of a faff but I think it will be worth it.

Yes, do it: it'll bug you if you go the easy route and it doesn't look quite right. (Also, I assume already you've done a mock-up of one side of the crochet cushion against the two different backgrounds and the duck blue looks better?)
