I will try my best to explain what has happened here...

I have removed sofa cushion covers for cleaning and as I have zipped it back up (empty now) before placing in the wash, the zipper (little metal piece) has flown clean off the end of the zip - does that make sense? Like the stitching to secure the end has disappeared.

So now, I have to try to reverse the action in order to unzip it again.

I have tried and tried but it simply will not slide back on - is this the end of my sofa cusion cover? The actual zip is still perfectly ok, no wonky teeth or anything and the zip is of a very good quality I'd say with tiny little teeth. I'm rambling now so, I'll hope that someone will read this and be able to offer some guidance.
Thank you

Technically it should feed back on but what you will probably have to do is get the zip replaced - take it to a seamstress or your dry cleaners if they do alternations and they can replace it for you.

if you open all the closed teeth you should just be able to thread it on again from the bottom, as you would with an anorak zip. Then you need to re-secure the bottom bit. Sew it closed with strong thread and go over and over it.Yuo could even staple it too for rigidity. I have done this with lots of vintage dresses, I am very lazy about replacing zips!

Oh and only thread it back on a tiny bit, just the first few teeth, or it might undo again while you are sewing it.

Just wondering how you got on?

Cushion makers buy zip on a roll with a bag of zip heads to thread on to it.
Open up the zip and ease the zip head on from the top (shaped end) of it.
There is no 'one way' system if its a nylon coil type.
Hand stitch the end so it does not come off again and maybe check all the other ones too.
