here

Not the embroidery...I can do that...but how do I put the panel that I have embroidered into the backgrund fabric?

Is this called something? A particular technique?

I just did one for dd and all I did was machine stitch the fabric strips around the embroidery using a normal straight stitch.

well there now...I didn't know that you used fabric strips...I thought the panel was sewn on to the cushion cover! How do I do it please *knitting? Any tips on measurements etc?

I have made these too.
There are two ways of doing it.
One way is using strips of material around your embroidery design.
The other way is to sew your embroidery fabric onto a large piece of the backing fabric, then make it into the cushion.

Yes...but what way do you stitch with both types please? I might be being dim but were I to use the applique style, how to you get a neat edge where the panel meets the fabric? Just make a hem and then sew on?

And the strips....do you sew them all onto the panel with what stitch?

The panels you sew on each side separately, with right sides together using a straight running machine stitch. You could either mitre the corners or overlap them.
The other way,you could turn the edge over and sew on with either a straight stitch or zig zag stitch.
If you are going to embroider on AIDA! You could fray the fabric along all of the edges and then sew on.. I have done that before and then used a contrasting cotton to sew on, so the stitches actually showed.
Sorry, I'm not to good at describing. May be worth looking for YouTube tutorials.
