Drape Dress Pattern

Any idea where I can find a pattern for something like this?
fashionfinder.asos.com/womens-LANVIN/LANVIN-Drape-dress-898247

Either a top which I can make longer into a dress, or a dress....
it's hell, have been on every sewing website and all the patterns are naff as.....

I could improvise this, but don't want to start cutting my fabric and then much it up....

My fabric is 115cm wide by 200cm long, and has to be cut on the lengthway as it's ribbed...my dress needs to be 100cm long

thanks!!!!

I meant to come back yesterday after looking, but got caught up elsewhere

Sorry can't point you in the direction of a pattern, & would have said that if you are reasonably competent its probably an easy enough pattern to make yourself

BUT but having reread your OP with a clearer head,. 115cm wide ribbed cloth wouldn't be suitable for a pattern like this anyway - your pattern pieces will come up too wide & the rib of the cloth is likely to interfere with the drape & make it hang badly.

HTH

I agree with rockhippy ribbed fabric might not be suitable. Why not get some very cheap jersey and model the dress on yourself, (get someone to help you pin it on and cut it out) then take a pattern from that and make it up in a nice soft silky jersey. It is very chic.

forget to say have you got a tailor's dummy? you could drape it on that.

MissFoodie · 20/06/2012 22:49

I decided to use the fabric I have for something simpler, in the meantime. having zoomed in, it appears that dress has a seam down one side only, but then a slight seam under one arm hole on the right hand side...bet it's hell to make....no wonder it's so expensive!
I was looking into the japanese drape drape book, the problem is I dont want to buy it as there are only 2 out of the 14 patterns that i'm interested in....!
will let you know how I get on with my improvised lanvin...!

it's hell........looks so easy but is so hard.......
and I cannot find a pattern that resembles it, have been to John Lewis and everything is either circa 1982 style or looks very "home made" which is what I'm trying to avoid.........

and no tailor's dummy either!
