Naming a craft business?

How did you come up with the name of your craft business (however small your business may be)?

Do you have a logo for your business or just a name?

Are you looking to name your own business ??

I've had a couple of businesses names over the years, in the past they were pretty much pulled out of the air, one whilst watching TV & brainstorming with friends for names, ended up with a colour & animal name which had no connotations of any kind, but sort of sounded right for the time

Another was taken from a film & was the name of the nightclub in the film - it suited the image of the business at the time (fashion)

Now I use a name that included my DDs name, but is a known title

I'm also an old hippy, so I tend to use numerology to make sure its a "successful" name Grin

But it really depends on WHAT you are doing, in my case its fashion related, so its easier to make any name fit & yes to the logo :)

Thanks for replying rockinhippy.

I am not sure I want to start my own business. I seem to be stumbling into it half by accident. I have started making beaded jewellery and people are asking me to make more etc. It is all very low key, in my spare time etc.

I have been looking into how I package my jewellery though and realised that a name or logo would help here.

I am a bit of a hippy type myself but also Scottish and was trying to find something that combined the two.

I wanted to call the business Foxglove but dd pointed out that sounded like a gardening or flower business not a jewellery one.

I live in rural Scotland so thought it would be nice to include that atmosphere in the name.

Any suggestions or ideas are very gratefully received. Smile

Funny that happened to me to when I was younger & it ended up taking me on quite a successful & very enjoyable career path :)

Foxglove and Thistle
Bespoke Jewellery

Logo in gold on a purple box, the heads of the 2 plants intwined

sprung to mind first - sounds & looks classy, so allows you to promote yourself as "designer" end & therefore charge enough to make it worth your whileWink

& a name doesn't have to be related to your craft as such - if it did my old business label would have had me painting monkeys :)

I would probably be very happy painting monkeys Smile

Both great ideas with totally different moods to them. I am chortling at bespoke a bit though Grin maybe once i have learnt a lot more. Who knows?!

Thanks for inspiration!

I have my surname put together with what I make as it identifies both items straight away and I build the brand around that.
