Help me knit!

I can knit, although have only ever knitted squares and scarves. I want to knit something for new baby (currently 27 weeks). Was thinking a blanket- could I just knit squares and stitch together?

Or does anyone have any easy patterns for a newbie?

I saw you'd posted on Ravelry (or that someone with a mighty similar problem had anyway) - I actually prefer the one you've started on now!

MN is wonderful for help with crafty stuff OP. Fantastically helpful and patient expert knitters.

A few months ago I couldn't knit a stitch, but now I'm still in a mess most of the time I can make stuff! Well, if its really easy I can.

Bootees are good as a first project. Even I can do those.

You'll soon get into your stride. I made my first dc a blanket and unpicked the same four inches five times Confused. It's still in use two dc on.

Right, have started the sunny blanket. If that fails I'll try an even simpler one!

Thank you for your patience! Ravelry is great, although think some posters overestimated my ability!

Hi Raining - I always tend to do my borders in garter stitch (knit, knit, knit) because even though I can do ribbing (eg knit 1 (2, 3 etc) purl 1 (2,3 etc) most of the time I can't be bothered for a blanket!

I've done loads of patterns, from simple rows of garter stitch to more complex patterns, but find that the one I always return to is a big square of stocking stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row) in nice bright stripes with a garter stitch border. It's also the pattern I've received most praise for.
