Framing Cross-Stitch

Can anyone tell me how to do this without having it done professionally? It's quite a large piece, and going to cost a fortune!

Thank you.

I did it myself ages ago. I chose a frame that had a bit of depth - bought from a hobby store. I handwashed my cross stitched and ironed it carefully. I then wrapped it around a board and stitched the edges - long stitches to to bottom edges, and then side to side edges. Chose a cardboard colour for the frame and DH cut it for me (the cutters are available to buy, or a framing shop will cut you one - some frames come with their own and if you're happy with the colour and size that's fine, some hobby stores sell the cardboard frames separately for standard sized frames).

Pop it behind the frame and it's all done. However, if you are somewhere where it gets humid, you may want to avoid the glass in the front as you can get mould growing on your cross stitch.
