Scrapbooking supplies

Anyone got any pearls of wisdom about where is best to buy scrapbooking supplies? I'm a complete novice and have nothing! I live near a Hobbycraft, but suspect they are a little on the pricey side???
Can anyone recommend any products/websites?
Many thanks

Poundland actually have a small variety of things to get you started. Hope that helps :)

I would try and find and independent scrapbooking shop and see if they do a beginners class, they'll point you in the right direction. My local (45 mins away but totally worth it) suggests the basics, you don't want to buy a load of stuff you won't use. Also Scrap 365 magazine has a list of shops in their directory at the back, I didn't really like the mag, but that was very helpful! Enjoy, it's a great hobby, I've been scrapping for 8 years now and can't get enough!

try improvising with things you have like the hanging ribbons from your tops -cut buttons off old clothes -fabric flowers from poundland and take them apart and rework them --fabric labels from clothes, tickets, receipts -you'll start to look at mundane everyday stuff in a new light -
cheap haberdashery shops or stalls .ebay is also good

Can I just add that if you want to have your creations last (like forever, not just for a year or so) you want to use archival quality paper, which is acid and lignin free. Scrapbooking supplies are acid free because one of the main reasons many people scrap is to record their families stories for posterity.

I tend to go to the Hobby and WHSmiths for inspiration and then buy it all on ebay or google shopping to get the cheapest deals. :)
