dress fabric websites, any but especially for kids

I'm restarting dressmaking again after many years. I want to buy online (live in rural area and ds, 4, doesn't take well to long shopping trips) but can't find a really good website selling dress material. Loads sell really sparkly stuff or hideous cheap stuff. I really adore Poppy clothes like this but dd is now 8 and therefore too big. Anyone knows where I could buy lovely trad, interesting fabrics like this. I love liberty but it's really a bit pricey. Bit overwhelmed by Etsy.

Have a look at the thread on here called 'interesting fabrics', lots of people suggested websites.
You'll be browsing the web for hours!

Thanks teanosugar. I looked back through a couple of pages but missed this one!

fabricland (southern) and Abakhan (northern) are fairly cheap, both have websites, although you have to order by phone on fabricland and they charge you the actual Royal Mail postage, rather than a flatrate like other places. Also try Croft Mill - I love the little descriptions of the fabrics, someone at the mill has a great sense of humour.

otherwise, there are so many fantastic quilting fabrics that would make fab children's clothes. i think in the past quilting cotton was inferior to dresssmaking cotton but know it is excellent quality and suitable for clothing. the only problem is that they are around £12m!!!!

Try fabricrehab, backstitch, m is for make, fabric loft, raystitch, kitchycoo Dots and stripeswhich also sells ottobre magazine, it is full of seasonal patterns for children from 0-16. It is supposed to be really good but I have never bought it because I can never make up my mind which to buy. For the number of patterns you get, it is really good value for money

I have the book sewing for boys, and I have managed a couple of the projects by upcycling charity shop buys. I have boys so find it much harder to buy cheapish fabrics for them.

I have also made an oliver & s pattern - they are really fab & great for all skill levels, even a beginner. They are very expensive however.

This is weird - I was just about to post a delirious review of Abakhan, then someone mentions it!

Have just been into the Liverpool branch and Oh. My. God. I've spent lots more than I intended but I've bought loads. They do fabric by metres but also have off cuts sold by weight - I pounced on a red, black and white stylised Eiffel Tower cotton which was £10 for a large piece.

Haven't used their website but I have had a look, and it's very tempting. But if you can go, go! It's amazing
