Where do people buy the quirkier fabrics from? Even Berwick St doesnt have the really quirky, cute options. Help!

Fabric rehab has great designs .

Have you looked at spoonflower

Lots of quirky stuff there, you could even design your own

RueDeWakening · 25/04/2012 14:14

Fabricland - the website will make your eyes bleed but they have some nice (cheap!) stuff.

coldcomfortHeart · 25/04/2012 15:00

Have to say spoonflower, although stuffed with beautiful fabric designs, really disappointed on quality. my fabric shrank very unevenly when i pre washed it and the colour faded slightly too. Plus it comes from the states and took ages!

Fabric rehab have gorgeous stuff but not cheap- ebay's pretty good if you can be bothered searching.

If you are on FB "Like" The Sewing Directory, they always highlight new fabrics/stores.promotions/sales. Some stores I have seen mentioned by them

The Village haberdashery

Clothkits have 20% off all fabrics by the metre until midnight on 30/4 if you put in the code "raindrops20" - they have some fabulous Japanese fabrics and loads of liberty prints.

Off to narrow down my shopping basket from ££££ to ££...

lovely fabrics, they also have Michael Miller and Riley Blake

Ditto is one of my favourites - though we have a shop here, so I go there, they are not cheap, but the quality is lovely & they do tend to get some more unusual prints - do check Fabricland out first though, because they do occasionally stock the same stuff, but at vastly different pricesWink

My latest acquisition was some of the oriental design viscose jersey, it made up & washes beautifully & has had no end of compliments :)

I have just come across fancy moon selling all sorts of lovely fabrics suitable for dressmaking, quilting and furnishing and some gorgeous American prints too.

OP, If you're in London (sounds like you are, if you can get to Berwick St), you really must check out the fabric shops in the Goldhawk Road - head for Shepherds Bush.

There are loads of them, pretty much side by side; you could easily spend a day there. Not sure what you're after specifically, but there's plenty of 'quirky' to be had.

I was there last week and one of the shops had Liberty Tana lawn for £7 a metre, VERY considerably less than full price. I didn't even rootle around that much, but there are plenty of bargains if you dig a bit. Honestly, it's great.

Unfortunately (wouldn't you know it) they're currently under threat of being re-developed but the shops are all fighting back. Go while you can!

Funky Kitsch Fabrics are very good and they have a sale on at the mo.
