I need a sort of diamonte fastening/twiddly bit that I don't know exists and wouldn't know what it was called if it did

To temporarily attach two bits of Georgette (in two places)

I thought about a buckle but I think the Georgette would just slip out

It needs to be fixed in & pretty & temporary

Any ideas?

Can't quite visualize what you're trying to do, but would diamante clip-on earrings do? Depends how temporary it has to be.

Do you mean a dress clip? Like these?

KatyMac · 17/03/2012 08:59

That is possible, I'll have a play - it might be too temporary

I have drapes for a ballroom dress that I want to reuse for the latin dress (sort of grecian) and they need to be attached at shoulder one side and hip the other (they are triangular) with a sort of tail/floppy bit

The reuse is because I want to jewel them & I'm too lazy/stingy to do it twice

Never seen them before

I like them, they are ideal but they are a bit big.......hmmm

What about any of these?

VeronicaSpeedwell · 17/03/2012 09:06

Could you use poppers on the back and just sew the diamanté or a motif on the top? Then you could just add another set of popper backs to the other garment they need to go on. Poppers might be more secure than clips. I don't mean the titchy ones like on a babygro - use slightly bigger ones, perhaps black.

Pascha · 17/03/2012 09:07

fabric clip on diamante? if you used a fair few?

KatyMac · 17/03/2012 09:09

Pasha that first site was amazing

& I like these might they be strong enough I wonder?

Depends how much stress would be put on them in the height of a dance routine I suppose. They are lovely but you have to take the chance they might pop off and disappear behind the judges table.

KatyMac · 17/03/2012 09:14

VeronicaSpeedwell that might work very well

So dress with popper, popper on drape, drape with popper, popper on motif

So the drape has a 2 sided popper, one side attaching to ballroom dress.........the other I could maybe put a smaller motif to finish it off

Let me think

& if I offset the poppers on the drape I can use that to reattach the drape to the ballroom costume

Wow thanks everyone - I think that will work

Yes, that sounds like what i'm suggesting: put the 'male' popper half on the back of the georgette drape, the 'female' on the dress, another 'female' on the other dress. Diamanté/charity shop brooch/whatever you like would then be purely decorative and sewn to the top side of the georgette, which saves hunting for something which will both look right AND do the job. The potential downside is if you are using either dress without the drapes then you have half a popper sewn to it, but depending on where it is and what the fabric's like it would probably be inconspicuous. I hope that makes sense! I am typing on an iPad, which is something I am crap at.

KatyMac · 17/03/2012 09:47

But using the dresses without the drapes is unlikely

I think that could really work - Thanks
