Please can you have a look at my photos and tell me what you think of the rainbow picture please? If you could give it a mark out of 10 and tell me 1 thing you liked about the picture and 1 thing you thought could have made it better, it would be very much appreciated. Smile

Wow - you are really talented, I love your murals ! The elephant one is amazing !!

The happy tree picture is lovely too.

The rainbow tree picture would actually look great without the rainbow, it kind of doesnt go with the tree ( I'm really sorry, I don't like being critical)

I would like the picture more if the 'branches' etc were rainbow coloured and the actual rainbow wasn't on it.

Lovemygirls · 09/03/2012 10:41

Thank you Lazy that's really helpful, don't be sorry, I asked for it Grin I've asked a few people in RL but they all say they love it etc and I wanted opinions from people who don't know me so aren't biased.

The happy tree is my favourite. Afraid I don't like the rainbow nor the eye, but the rest are lovely

PrettyPirate · 09/03/2012 10:51

Your Happy Tree one is absolutely lovely, something I would have in my house!!! And elephant mural is good too. But also don't think the rainbow one is good, the rainbow looks bit 'heavy' to compare to the tree. Like lazydaisy said, they don't go together very well. Sorry, hate being critital too [bluch]. But you asked!!

PrettyPirate · 09/03/2012 10:51

Blush even*

Thanks, this is great feedback and gives me an idea what kind of direction to go in which is brilliant, keep the posts coming please!

The happy tree is much better than rainbow tree imo, it seems more balanced. I think rainbows are tricky to get looking good. I've tried to use them in my work before and they always come out looking like something out of a 1980s girls bedroom!! Have you tried doing one of your trees on a dark background in moonlight? That could look really atmospheric.

Your Eiffel Tower picture is amazing, btw.

DonkeyTeapot · 10/03/2012 10:33

I love the curly style of the trees, but agree the other posters that the rainbow doesn't work, it looks sort of crayon-y if that makes sense. I like the other poster's idea of having the branches rainbow coloured.

HiggleDePiggledy · 10/03/2012 10:38

The trunk of the rainbow tree needs to be a bit more defined and I wondered if the rainbow could peep through gaps in the branches rather than being solid.
The happy tree is lovely.

KatyMac · 10/03/2012 10:42

Sorry LMG I agree with the others

TBH the rainbow makes it look like a child's drawing

I love the other tree as well (but I think I've told you that before Wink)

BigBoobiedBertha · 10/03/2012 12:08

I don't mind the rainbow tree one. It doesn't look as 'professional' as the happy tree by itself.

Imo (and it is only my opinion and I am no expert) the problem lies where the rainbow and the tree overlap. Don't ask me how you would fix that though!

You do some lovely work. Am very Envy of your artist abilities. Smile

Molehillmountain · 10/03/2012 16:40

Love the tree without the rainbow. Especially like the grass being similar kind of swirls in different colours. It looks really gorgeous-the kind of thing id expect to see in a lovely quirky cafe. The sort where the owners really care about their customers, and had squashy sofas before everyone did. Don't quite know where that image came from but there you go. I do agree about the rainbow and tree together.

KatyMac · 10/03/2012 17:04

Could you do more of a weeping willow with the different colour swirls being the colours of the rainbow??

Pancakeflipper · 10/03/2012 17:24

I like the Happy Tree.

Tinkerbell looks a bit cross.

neverputasockinatoaster · 10/03/2012 19:22

I love the Happy Tree but I don't think the rainbow and the tree go together. I'd love to have the Happy Tree in my house.

KatyMac · 10/03/2012 20:24

Happy tree is my favourite

Last time we spoke about this you were going to try Happy tree on a night sky I think - did you ever try that?

I think different sizes/colours/backgrounds of happy tree maybe adding some textures might be the way to go

fabulousdarling · 11/03/2012 12:20

I am so envious. I'd just about manage a rainbow. A really rubbish rainbow. I have trouble even painting a wall properly. Do you do freelance commissions for people?

Lovemygirls · 11/03/2012 12:32

Thanks everyone, fab feedback! I have now done another painting which I will add to my profile if you fancy having a look Smile

Thanks so much for your support, it means a lot to me!

I do do commissions, if you would like a painting please pm me and I will be happy to paint one for you!

KM I have done a night time one yet but I will try it very soon, I have my own studio now so I finally have the time and space to explore my creativity, it's very exciting!

Bump for feedback on my latest piece many thanks to those who have posted already.

OP posts:
KatyMac · 11/03/2012 20:55

I don't think I can see it clearly - the colours are very blended

Lovemygirls · 11/03/2012 21:04

Thanks KM, I've put another pic on to try and show it a bit closer, thanks for letting me know, I think I need to go over the stems and leaves again tbh

OP posts:
KatyMac · 11/03/2012 21:14

I love the blue & the 3Dness of it

But I think the tones of the flowers/stems and the blue are too close together iyswim

It may just be the photo but it's hard work to look at it

Lovemygirls · 16/03/2012 09:25

I'm off to the studio today to add something to it and see if I can make it clearer, thanks for your feedback KM, I've also done another painting now, it's for my mum for mothers day so feel free to have a nosey at that one too Smile
