Have a look through past posts. Loads of info on here, more than you will ever need to get you started.

Have you got any crafty goodies yet?

Welcome to the crafty club!

For cardmaking I like the docrafts website. There are a few nice projects to get you familiar with the tools etc and the chat bit is quite good for card making.

They can be a bit judgemental about your efforts though - so I only read and view - don't post anything of my own there!

UKscrappers.co.uk is good too - with a slight bias towards scrapbooking!

I only started making cards last December - but I am getting well and truely hooked!

Welcome

I am starting completely from scratch - the closest things i have in this house are colouring books, crayons and finger paints!!!

Some inspiration here

I found a link to this person's gallery on docrafts website. I really liked the look of her cards - you might get some ideas from them too

Wow! Soapbox, this lady is gooooood. Is she on MN as her cards are very much like mine. In fact, she copied one . Only joking, I get most of my ideas from scouring card sites. Sometimes I think of one thats all my own. Then I find out it's been done before. That site is by far one of the best.

UCM · 31/01/2006 18:25

Errr, I was a tad hasty there. That site is very very good, but I have just realised that everything is a stick on. I can't afford to make cards like that. I have to do some of it me self IYSWIM

£30? In The Range you got off lightly! I can spend a fortune in there!

Do you use e-bay? That place is a haven for stuff, and you can do it a pound here, a pound there which helps. Everythingf rom card to beaded dragonflies.

devilJARM · 31/01/2006 23:56

i agree i got off lightly.... am off again tomorrow. Wilkinsons also have some little bits and bobs i fancy so going there tomorrow too. Didnt spend as much time in The Range as i wanted to - 2 kids screaming put me off!

devilJARM · 01/02/2006 14:43

thanks. Did get a starter tool kit with the old blue heat it up thingy in it.... that was £40 just for the starter box.... then cards and ribbons and glue and pencils and bits and stuff!

All useful stuff. You can use a lot of the basics to save money- for instance draggng ink pads over paper / card for different backgrounds, or making your own charms (ink a small piece of card, add powder, heat, add more powder WHILST STILL HOT, heat untilr ellay hot (molten), repeat twice, impress a small cookie cutter into it, a small stamp in centre (you made need to reheat between the two) and voila! Home made triple embossed charm. Especially good in metallics, or you can mix powders... dark red and silver = pewter for example.
