First attempt ever - invitation cards for party

It is DD's 4th birthday party at the beginning of April.

She is having a party with a Royal theme - princesses, princes, knights, etc.

I quite like the idea of making the invites, possibly as little cards with a slip inside for RSVP (so people can tell me if they are/are not coming and if there willl be additional siblings coming and their ages!).

I'd like the cards to be quite simple, based around the theme.

But not really sure of what I could do that would be simply enough for a complete non-artistic beginner. But wouldn't look like DD had just done them herself! LOL

Any ideas? Thank you

you could just type it out using a curly font on computer and then stick that onto a piece of card and use a gold pen to go round the edge?
bit posh like? lol

Think I will definitely be typing for the wording inside!!! My handwriting wouldn't stand up to it. The gold pen I must remember!

Any ideas of what I could do on front of the card?

i was thinking of just a single piece of card, not that opens or anything!

though, you could do an opening one and just do a simple gold crown outline or something on the front?

Was only thinking of a card, as thought then it would be easier to slip in the RSVP sheet seperately.

Like the outline idea - will have to do some searches for a good template!

Would something like these be easy to attach?

and hula you have beautiful hand writing - with a gold pen it'd look lovely.

If you're going on ebay anyway, search for some gems. Little srystals you can just glue on, they'd be perfect on the crowns. Then you could make some backing paper- maybe princess X is having a party in Curlz font, in different colours, print off and there you go.

I did a King card for my LO last year, the backing card I used was holographic card which you should also be able to find easily on ebay.

I did a Knights and princesses party last year when DS was 5. It was fab! I'm afraid I wasn't too crafty with the invites as I spent most of my time on little decorarive touches (sprayed an old garden chair gold for a throne!!) For the invites I cut a castle shape and typed onto it with an Olde English type font - It was a brilliant theme and if I can help with ideas let me know!

Ikea do a little velvet drawstring bag which I filled with chocolate coins to play a variation of pass the parcel ( Pass the kings gold) when they were out they got to take a piece of the kings gold. We had a dragon pinata from Woolies and they all got a chance to slay the dragon with toy swords. I used plastic wine glasses and sprayed the bases gold and stuck jewels on to make goblet and I made a castle cake. (A square cake with 4 jam roly poly's to make turrets decorate with toy knights) I also read a story and did jousting with hobby horses and a toy unicorn all in all a great time was had by all!! If I think of any more I'll let you know.
