Have just bought the following list of dies on ebay for £70 including P&P! Twas a bit of a rash purchase - is it good value do you think?

***

There are 18 sizzix dies in all they all have been used only a few times... here goes...

Red Dies are

ANGEL, SCHOOL SUPPLIES, GINGERBREAD HOUSE, HORSE, POPCORN & BUCKET, BARE TREE, BABY CARRIAGE, TRIANISAURAUS REX,

Yellow Dies are

CLOCK HANDS, STOCKING, ROSE

Green Dies are

Leaf #2

Holly & Berries

Seashell #1

Tree

Also there is a sizzlit pack which has 4 dies (Birthday Theme)

Well the red dies with rc would cosy you £7 each at the moment and the green dies would cost £4.90 each so that adds up to £80.50. The sizzlits are a tenner everywhere (£14 in some places) but RC doesn't sell them at the moment.

so you've probably got about £90 worth for £70 so you've saved £20. That's at the bottom end of the price range and assuming that RC would have them all so YES- bargain

soapbox.....Im probably gonna upset you now,but I will be honest and say what I think.
IMO No, they are not a good buy.
They are second hand for a start.

There are probably only 3/4 dies listed that i would use often for card making.

When will you ever use the shell die???

The popcorn one I have never seen used on a card.

Angel/Holly and berries/tree/stocking...limited to use at christmas only.

School supplies...starting school cards...thank you cards for teachers...so not going to get that much use.

IMO you would have been better off buying from RC the dies that you know you will use over and over again.

I spent £100's of pounds when I first started out nearly a year ago and TBH I have boxes of stuff I know I will never use...all bought from ebay.

If you are happy with your purchase then that's all that matters, but Ive learnt to be very careful with my purchases now and decide if I want or need dies etc...saves a lot of money in the long run.

Everyone does it when they first start card making, I wish I'd know of this MNs talk site when I first started. I think I would have pestered them to death asking for their thoughts of my new purchases before I bought them.

I thought of a couple of things you could use the dies for
The Popcorn die, those popcorns look like little hats and the bag you could have a teddy or rabbit or balloons or something coming out of the bag.

Sea shell, you could buy some pre cut fish or seahorses of ebay or check our swapshop and do a fish tank scene

Just a few ideas hope, just thought try looking at some galleries for card making ideas.
Have a look atthis site for card making ideas

Thing is, if you find there are some you won't use much you can cut a load of different colours and re-list the die on Ebay.

soapbox · 30/01/2006 11:54

Oops! Looks like I might be relisting some of these then!

I have ordered a few dies from RC, but of course nothing has appeared yet and I am getting bored waiting!

So this was a way of getting some quickly!

I don't mind too much about the Christmas ones being limited to christmas cards - as they will come in useful then anyway. I can see your point about the popcorn box, but think I can use the shell die for scrapbooking beachy things.

I probably need to work out how to sell on ebay don't I?
