How do I rib on circular needles? How many stitches?

Ok, if I am ribbing on straights I co an even no of stitches + just start every row the same-kn/p/kn/purl. This much I know.

So for circulars, do I co an odd number of stitches then just kn/p round and round?

Sorry, this is really confused, can't explain better! Hope someone can help!

PS this was inspired by your lovely hats NQC but didn't want to thread hijak.

You do an even number. You just knit perl knit perl, to do a 1x1 rib.

I don't mind you adding stuff on my thread, it's a general knitting chat thread, not an "enjoy my hats" thread.

The ribbed hats I did are not straight rib, btw. They're a slipped-stitch rib, which is very easy, and comes up more deeply ribbed than a normal rib.

Oh, to do sizing, you want to do a sample square, and then measure it half-way pulled, iyswim. Otherwise you make a very very big hat (if it's to be a hat?). I have done this.

Oh, those hats were worth a thread to themselves! They are very lovely. Thanks. am now going to the other thread to enjoy your hats further and ask what slipped stitch ribbed is.
