I am 37 weeks pg and trying to make a velcro-on blackout blind for the nursery window (it's in a recess)
I have not touched my inherited sewing machine for several years and am not very experienced.
So I have my blackout fabric, have stuck velcro round the window and am trying to sew velcro onto the material
- I have pinned it. When removed, the pin holes let through light. Bugger.
- I sewed the velcro right on the edge then flapped it over to sew the other edge. The blackout material wasn't straight so it's puckered. I sewed too close to the edge of the velcro so it's frayed where it's been flapped over. The sewing holes let through light. sigh.
- I am unpicking the above and trying to make the fabric edge straight - but how!?
- Should I just hem the blackout then bondaweb the velcro on top? That would maybe cover up the holes from the sewing?
Argh, am very irritable, this should be simple! And yes, I am a bit too anal about light especially as the mornings are going to be getting lighter and lighter when baby comes. If anyone could give me some pointers it would be much appreciated.
