Hi, I can't sew I haven't a clue what I'm doing and I need to sew three swimming badges onto a towel by yesterday if DS1 has anything to do with it. Help! I've googled sewing instructions but havent come up with anything very helpful. Will wonderweb do?

Position badge with a pin to hold in place. Thread and knot needle (double over the cotton) and then do small stitches around the edge of the badge - the best stitch would be blanket stitch but an over stitch would do the job. Don't do running stitches, too bulky through the towel and badge.

Wonderweb won't work.

this should help

You can use the wonder web to position the badge before sewing. That's what I do and it stops it coming out wonky.

Don't worry too much about the kind of stitch you use. Do you have thread that matches the edging on the badges? If so, it will be very forgiving.

Also, on you tube, search for how to sew on badges. There are loads of vids there.

First thing is you don't sew it on the loopy towel part of the fabric. Most towels have a smooth piece about 4" in from either end. You will find it easiest and neatest to use something called a slip stitch and to use a double length of cotton. Take the end of your cotton between your fingers and run it down to your elbow and back... don't make it longer than this or it get knotty.

Try this video from YouTube - - hopefully this will help you.

Hi, thanks for all the tips I've done 3 out of the 5 badges so far and am feeling rather proud of the results. All the badges are different colours so I bought invisible thread and I am amazed, I never knew such a thing exsisted, I might finally have the confience to sew all our missing buttons back on when I have finished the badges. Thanks again.
