Adding a bit on to a Roman Blind....

Have bought a Roman blind for DD3's bedroom. I had two choices - perfect width but either 6cm too short or 24cm too long (or 30cm too wide and the same length problems).

So, while it's not a major problem (she has bits on her windowsill so the 6cm wouldn't be a problem at night, for now anyway), I would like to add something along the bottom - would it be best to buy some kind of tassel trim and attach to the back, or to make a strip in a contrasting material, attach and perhaps 'hide' the join with some ribbon or similar...? Obviously I would do more than just cut a piece of material, I can sew pretty ok-ish Grin

Any ideas on a. what's best and b. how I should do this would be lovely....

TIA Smile

hang it lower and have a pelmet?

this might look a bit better than an add on to draw attention to the oops this was originally too short bottom.

otherwise as you say good haberdashers have usually fabulous beaded or tasselled fringes.

oh you could make some lovely bunting instead of a stupid pelmet to hide the gap at the top!

Very easy to do!

I'm with you on stupid pelmets! I hate them...

I did think long and hard about getting the longer one, but she has a tiny room and it's a small window - London terrace house, diddy room at the front next to master bedroom sort of window.

I'm just being a bit stingy too as recently moved back the UK and had to fork out what feels like gazillions on furnishing the fricking house, garden etc etc. She will get a proper made to measure one eventually like when she's ten probably so it's a make do for now sort of thing.

Have an amazing sewing shop up the road from us so may have a look in there and at fringes. I like the sound of beaded ones, thank you.
