Walking foot for a Brother X-5?

I have a Brother X-5 sewing machine (not listed on brother's website Confused but bought for me last year from Argos I think) - but I need a walking foot / even feed foot for it and Brother doesn't supply one. I think it's classed as a low-shank machine (and a drop-load ?? bobbin), if that's any help. Anyone used a universal walking foot or know of one that works well with a Brother X-5?

Sorry I can't help, but I would like to know what a walking foot is?

haha, thanks! (at least you read my post I suppose!) :)

It's a foot that grips the fabric from the top and bottom to feed it through evenly - used in quilting (when you have more than one fabric on top of each other), or also used with silky fabrics or other tricky ones.

Ooh, could be useful. I'll have to look out for one.

I've got one!
I have a Brother walking foot for a domestic sewing machine.
It is proper Brother make, made in Japan reference numbers on the packet are (XC2214002) FO33N.

I bought it about 3yrs ago in Dunelm, near Digbeth,Birmingham for £25.99.
My machine is not a Brother but a New Home and is a short stem (low shank)
(Thats what the feet are attached to). It comes with an adapter so it will also fit a long stem. The leaflet is well written, easy to understand and lots of pictures to help.

I used it for a particularly thick, loose-ish fabric and it worked really well.

I actually bought a new sewing machine because it came with one and I was sick to the back teeth of pinning, tacking and resewing the seams on some curtains and finding 2cm of material over on one side. Again. And again. And again.

Would have been cheaper to pay someone to make the curtains, as I'd done with the first pair. But, mine were better!

And I felt I needed a new machine as the other one was over 25 years old and wasn't always the best thing for newer types of fabrics.
