I was thinking of creating a photobook with it, has anyone else done that? Any other ideas?

That's a nice idea. We have started taking digital photos of it all so we don't have to keep all the crap for posterity.

SingingSands · 29/12/2011 16:04

Fab idea, a really lovely thing to have and look back on. I tend to pile it all up in a corner in the kitchen and then chuck it out when it spills over onto the floor!

TheAnnoyingSatsuma · 29/12/2011 16:09

Take digital photos and make up one of those big photo collage canvases.

MudAndGlitter · 29/12/2011 16:10

I cut it up and stick it on card. It's good for back up thank you notes etc.

I write merry Christmas / happy birthday etc messages on them, and post them as cards from DS separate to my cards (only really for adoring grandparents :) )

Laura1001 · 29/12/2011 18:05

bigkidsdidit- I quite like that idea! I would imagine grandparents would like it.

They do. If you're organised it's easy - for painting etc in Feb and march use egg shaped paper, in october and nov tree shaped paper. They like it and you don't have many to throw away etc - I just keep the odd one.

Laura1001 · 29/12/2011 19:37

Bigkidsdidit- i quite like the idea of using egg shaped paper, ect anyway, as it add that little bt of extra character to the art itselve.

I keep a yearly scrapbook, selecting nice bits to go in x

Laura1001 · 29/12/2011 20:09

grumpypants- i like the idea of creating yearly scrapbooks.

My two are not avid artists, but I keep the few bits that they bring home from nursery/preschool in a plastic A4 document folder. The ones with clear pockets already in it. (I just fold the bigger stuff & stuff it in) I also stick a photo of them from the first day of term in the front & try to add a photo each term.

I have also seen some really cool picture frames that I would love for my kitchen. You just slide A4 paper into the top of the frame! I will have to go through my bookmarks for the link...

overmydeadbody · 31/12/2011 00:25

What I did was scan in all of DS's 'better' artwork, save as a jpeg, shrink it down to 2" by 1" rectangles, and then make a poster-sized collage of lots of his pictures in miniature and framed it. It looked like this

goingbacktowork · 31/12/2011 00:31

THAT MINI PICTURE LOOKS GREAT.

cartblanche · 31/12/2011 01:32

overmydeadbody I've deliberated about doing this and you've just convinced me! Thanks for the instructions Grin

befuzzled · 31/12/2011 01:36

That is utterly fantastic what a great idea! I was dreading throwing out all their artwork in upcoming house move but that will stop me feeling guilty! How did you get it printed out poster size - did you use an online place? Is that your actual one - it looks fab!!

I did a similar thing for end of year present for the teacher - each kid did a picture and I canned them all, printed and put in a frme - was only A4 though.

southeastastra · 31/12/2011 01:39

i have a few photos of my sons works of art - keep originals of the most bizarre though, they are fun to look back at

bigkidsdidit · 31/12/2011 10:20

oh my that's fantastic! I'm going to do that too now!

overmydeadbody · 31/12/2011 10:31

Glad everyone likes it!

I got mine printed up at Photobox, but didn't use their collage-making service, I just made the collage myself first using photoshop and a canvas size exactly the same as the Photobox poster size print, and arranged all the little jpegs of artwork onto one and them saved that as a jpeg and then went to photobox for them to print it. Does that make sense? It took me ages.

Laura1001 · 31/12/2011 16:49

Overmydeadbody- that looks like a good idea!!
Has anyone here created a photo book with their artwork? Would you think it would be a good idea?

befuzzled · 31/12/2011 17:16

overmydeadbody = yep makes perfect sense thanks, I like to use my own software to arrange too and then just need somehwere to print poster size.

Laura1001 · 01/01/2012 17:15

I think it make perfect sense as well. What about creating a photo book with it, has anyone done that?

OP posts:
overmydeadbody · 01/01/2012 19:59

Laura I think a photo book sounds like a great idea! Go for it, especially now with the January sales.

Laura1001 · 01/01/2012 21:11
