To give to the adults in my family.

In the past they have made sloe gin/produced their own album/made lemon curd/fudge/ put together the ingredients for chocolate brownies, etc.

What can I do? I was thinking marmalade, but have never made jam in my life.

I'm starting to hyperventilate. Please help.

Snowman soup?

Truffles?

Cookies?

Candles in a teacup?

What is snowman soup?

DS1 suggested candles, but I need to get this together in the next 7 days. I don't have time to scour 2nd hand shops for tea cups or order stuff on line. Can I get candle ingredients at hobby craft or somewhere?

Nigella brownies and rocky road are really easy . Get the basics chocolate from sainsburys to keep price down also basic digestives do the job as well . They do the marshmallows in the bakery bit. You will need the quality vanilla essence . Will try and link recipes in a mom but both are very easy and everybody loves them .

Shortbread.
Who doesn't love it?

If you do cakey things, then a roll of cellophane (Staples or hobbycraft, anywhere like that) and curling ribbon will be fine for wrapping, makes them look really good.

Chocolate-dipped candied orange peel is quite festive and unusual - this looks like a relatively straightforward recipe. You'd have to buy nice small boxes though as I think it would be an enormous hassle to make too much of it.

How about these coconut balls?. Have bought some coconut and chocolate today.

Can't link due to stupidness but it is the brownies from how to be a domestic goddess. Had to cook longer than 25 minutes but just kept sticking a skewer in until slightly fudged as they do cook in the tin for a bit longer when you take them out and I don't like cake like ones .

cinder toffee/honeycomb or chocolate swirly shortbread biscuits (the recipes are both on here, might have got the names a bit wrong though?). Chocolate covered marzipans. Or how about one those cookie recipe in a jar things? GEt a kilner type (or any) jar and layer the ingredients for cookies, I'm sure there's a thread on here about it?

Marmalade called Ma Made in tesco or sainsbo's you can do it in the microwave and makes 6 jars.

Someone has already mentioned truffles, but I'm seconding that motion as they are very easy, totally delicious, and everyone will love you forever. You can personalise them to an extent, eg add rum / baileys / tia maria etc for those that like, roll them in chopped nuts, add raisins, the list is endless.

A nice touch is to buy those foil cases that look like tiny muffin papers, and pour the runny misture into those (rather than rolling in balls) and put a pretty festive decoration on top.

Although, you did specify a gift that lasts and these will certainly be devoured within minutes.
