I'm planning to start craft classes fpr kids esp crocheting and simple sewing. Aiming at age 8+. Price £40 for six one hour sessions. Not trying to advertise so won't include full details, but just wondered if people thought it would be a good idea? Also considering offering crafting parties in my studios- for children and adults (baby showers? hens?)-party favours etc? Again, does it sound like a good idea? Anyone have any experience with this? Wld like to create a Kirsty Allsopp vibe!

DD (6) has recently started knitting classes. They are 1.5 hrs long, and cost £80 for 8 lessons. They have been absolutely brilliant - far exceeded my expectations. I was only planning on paying for one course, just to get her up and running, but I think I will continue for a bit longer.

I was particularly impressed by how quickly DD was making things. e.g. by the end of her first lesson she had made her own needles from wooden dowel (she sanded the roughly sharpened ends and wet-felted spheres for the ends), and had cast on. At the end of her fourth week she had finished making a very basic bag. I also like the fact that she's using lovely yarn.

The classes are fairly small (maximum of eight, with two teachers if there are two or more newbies). DD is about the youngest there...current age range goes up to about twelve. It seems v popular (I bagged the last place for DD).

So, in essence, yes, I think it's a great idea! :-D

My girls would love a class like that, I have no patience to teach them and they want to learn!

hey thanks! obviously I have no patience to teach my own children- in fact my 13 yr old taught herself!

these have been very successful in our area, there had always been a demand for adult courses, but I have noticed that our local yarn shop now offer them for kids too, they have a waiting list.
