This bunny.

My problem is - what wool and how much? I think I would need 400g but I'm not sure and I want it to be soft not scratchy or squeaky. and i want to make it lots and lots of clothes because i am sure my DD would adore it

I think that would be about right. Buy extra just to be safe.

I've spent a good while in the wool shop rubbing balls of wool against my cheek to ascertain softness. I think I"m being too picky and need to balance softness against cost.

I shall go and fondle some more later :o

No idea about weight but the pattern uses a ball that is 700m. Most yarn should have length as well as weight info.

Thanks - hat's how I eventually arrived at about 100g. I'm just struggling to find one with the right feel at the right price :o I"m going to get thrown out of the local shops for fondling the wool soon!

Sirdar Snuggly is a soft yarn and comes in a lovely range of colours, is acrylic so machine washable. approx 165m per 50g ball,

I like cotton yarn for toys. But it comes out a bit stiffer than wool or acrylic so depends if you like that or not.

I've been out fondling yarns and still can't make my mind up :) The Sirdar Snuggly was indeed fabulously soft but I'm still dithering. I had pondered about cotton and (true to dithering nature) I can't decide whether firm or snuggly is what I want :)

I'd go for cotton personally.
