my money apron

What do you use to keep your money in when you do craft fairs?

I keep mine in a lockable metal cash tin - nowhere near as pretty as your money apron :)

Thank you bran and bumpy.

Bumpy I was worried a metal cash tin would b easy to steal, probably over-thinking it though!

Great idea OP. You should make them and sell them! Good for all sorts of people.

PurpleFrog · 22/11/2011 08:57

That looks good. I haven't done a craft fair (maybe some day?) but have done a carboot sale. I kept notes on my person in a bumbag, and had a large margarine tub with a lid to hold the coin float.

Unless most of your things are priced in multiples of £5, you should make sure that you take more change than you think you will ever need.

good idea bran! I still haven't got round to making one for our tree yet, so that will be the first one!

Slight hijack - what happened to your little resourceful Tuesday ideas? :o

overmydeadbody · 23/11/2011 16:09

Oh Soupy, I was hoping no one would notice, but I ran out of little resourceful ideas Grin. Life got in the way, I began to find it more of a chore than something fun, so I decided to scrap it. Now I will post a resourceful idea when I have one, without worrying about having to do one every week!

I wasn't sure if anyone actually found them useful either.

I might do a Christmas special though, resourceful ways to wrap presents springs to mind.

That's FAB, and so much nicer than my over the shoulder balck bag I got from Clarkes - I don;t use money tins as they are visable and you can't take it with you when you go the loo (as i do too often at fairs).

good work, love that money bag

I'm checking in to see how it went too :) and to look for resourceful little ideas

overmydeadbody · 27/11/2011 10:26

The craft fair went really well thanks! I made way too much stuff though so until I got home and counted the money and did an inventory of what was left I did feel a bit like I hadn't sold much.

People were very friendly and complimentary of my things and a steady trickle of customers meant I did alreight!

The car carry cases were very popular and sold out in the first hour. The spanner cases also all sold out as did the snack sacks, most of the bunting kits and a lot of prism pouches.

bran good luck with the school one on friday!

Soupy I shall try to think of resourceful ideas for you to cope, now I have more time to blog Grin

:)

I reckon "boy" stuff would always go well because I think they're under catered for at craft fairs.

overmydeadbody · 30/11/2011 21:10

the lowdown of my craft fair, with pictures of me in my apron Grin

I got distracted by how slim you are. Cow. Envy

Sounds like it was a great success!

PurpleFrog · 01/12/2011 10:58

Gosh - your stall looks amazing - really professional!

You probably didn't make too much - since it looks like you gave people a lot of choice of colours and patterns for each item. If you had taken fewer of each item, you might have sold out too quickly of the popular colourways.....

At least you will have a head-start on your next fair - just be thankful you aren't making perishable items like biscuits or jams! Wink

Thanks for the nice messages.

Soupy and bran I am not really a cow, and bran I don't think I am young, pretty or talented. I am a painfully shy and moody person in RL with low self esteem, but I am working on it. Don't assume all is perfect from one flattering picture Grin The camera just caught me at a good angle.

bran I think you are right about the bags, all the people who admired them wanted them for themselves. I need to put them on Etsy so people can buy them for themselves.

PurpleFrog that's a good point, people even commented that it was nice to have such a choice of fabrics for each thing I made. There was a seller selling biscuits (40p each) and they went like hotcakes Grin. Almost every man who passed her stall bought one and ate it there and then. There were actually very few men or children at the fair, and the women with their partners with them spent less time at each stall just browsing slowly. It was the women on their own who took their time. It was interesting to watch.
