Hiya.
Im looking for some crayons for my 16mo dd, shes got some but the colours don't show up n the paper they are so faint so im wonderinf if anyone knows of any decent ones. I have thought about felts but as you probably know it would be a big messy mistake. She enjoys colouring but she cannot really see what shes drawing/ scribbling! (o:
Thanks in advance

Only Crayola are worth buying. They show up.

Have you thought of moving her onto paint pads??
this sort of thing

my own DD got her first kit about this sort of age & used it for years afterwards, its much less messy than paints & when tiny she loved the stencils as she could recognise things she had painted

I agree, got to be crayola, we've got these crayola beginnings

but any of the crayola products are good, try tesco, sainsburys or whsmith etc

threeisthemagicnumber · 15/11/2011 12:04

these are brilliant

They are so easy to draw with, and you can use a brush with water to 'paint' with them too. They're not cheap but the colours are lovely and all by dcs love using them. My youngest is 15 months and she can make really strong lines with them.

Crayola are much better than cheap ones. I love the colouring pencils as well, totally converted. 24 pack has much bigger variety of colours. Often cheap on Amazon.

I second those Stabilo ones- the colours are so rich and intense. They had pots of them at a restaurant we went to and I ended up drawing with them as well! Nice and chunky so small fingers can grip them easily

You can get very washable felt tips, too.

Crayola are worth every penny, pencils and crayons.

plipplops · 20/11/2011 17:18

Crayola for me

choccyp1g · 20/11/2011 17:21

Another vote for Crayola, expecially the push-up ones. But don't push them too far or they'll snap!

dundeemarmalade · 21/11/2011 18:51

I'd second what mrswoolf said about stockmar blocks. Best thing about them is you can blend primaries to get good secondaries, which I've found even expensive kids crayons don't always do.

Familydilemma · 21/11/2011 22:31

Crayola 24 pack crayons only £1 in asda. Children's scribbles are lovely anyway but crayola crayons add something. And when dd1 was little I gave her crayola pipsqueaks to use. Crayola are still the only felt tips allowed in our house-washable means washable when it's crayola (except bizarrely their paint washes out of clothes but stains hands Hmm)
