What's the best way to stick scrabble letters to card?

I'm making a not on the high st rip off for a friend spelling their children's names in scrabble letters on card. What do you think is the best adhesive for the job? Thanks

If it's just onto a card PVA should be fine, if you are doing it as a keepsake I may go with some loctite or whatever superglue you have about.

I use sticky fixers, cut in half and layered to give a double thickness.

deaconblue · 07/11/2011 13:01

so the sticky pad kind of pokes up inside the tile chrisrobin? I've got pva and superglue but was worried about leaving bits of glue round the edges and spoiling the look. It should look like this when I've finished www.notonthehighstreet.com/copperdot/product/personalised-wedding-day-word-tile-artscrabble
but will have all their names on it instead

Will you be framing it?

If I wer doing this, I would try to fill the inner enpty space with glue form a glue gun and then put it on the card. The glue will then not show through on the outside of the tile, just wtick to the the inside.

Lovely present btw! I may steal your idea...

Yikes! The prices for those! Shock

deaconblue · 07/11/2011 18:10

Price is mental. I paid £13 for an eBay scrabble set and whatever the frame and card cost. Much more reasonable. Think I have enough letters left to do my own family too!

Hi, sorry for the delay. Yes, the sticky fixers go in the space at the back of the tile, you can't see any evidence of sticking once it is in place. I've just done a couple for the family with all our names in, I bought frames from poundland which have pressure clasps on the back which give enough for the depth of the tiles.

chirpchirp · 09/11/2011 12:05

I've made these before too, as I put them in frames I just used PVA glue. The last one I did was for my neighbours, I used a larger frame (from Poundstretcher) and put their names surrounding a family photo.

thanks everyone - did you put your completed scrabble things in a glassless frame or one with glass in it? Was planning to take the glass out so the 3d element of it is obvious ,what do you think

OP posts:
chirpchirp · 10/11/2011 08:24

I kept the glass in mine. You can still see the 3D element but as I've put photos in mine I wanted to keep it protected.

Meant to say before, you don't have to buy the entire scrabble board. There are plenty of people on Ebay who just sell full sets of tiles.

I kept the glass in mine too, it keeps small fingers away from temptation and means it doesn't need to be dusted.
