how could I display my hanging decorations at a craft fair?

To give you an idea of what I'll be selling, I've posted some images to my profile - basically, I thought I'd be able to get one of those Ikea trees to hang my decorations on but they've sold out.

I'm trying to think whether I could make something myself as I don't want to spend loads (cardboard Christmas tree? a nice branch?!) but it would need to be freestanding and go on the table top.

If anyone has any suggestions I would much appreciate it as I can't seem to find anything online.

My boobs are OK - I'll have to check the lighting in the hall though

Your items are lovely DunderMuffin! Good luck with your craft fair, I'm sure they'll sell like hot cakes!

Thanks OMDB - I hope so! I'm going relatively cheap (£3 per hanging dec or 4 for a tenner) in the hope that I shift most of them and should make a bit... Fingers crossed!

That sounds good Dunder, especially the 4 for a tenner, people like that!

Have you thought of raising the sides of the table to head hight by strapping something such as a long strong bamboo or metal poles to each table leg - use a cable of ties to keep them secure

then you can string cord, or even chain between them & attach hanging objects along this too - it gives your stand extra height, so makes it more eye catching too

should have read couple of cable ties - damn those typo

Can you get a piece of twisted hazel or a big twisty branch held in a big plant pot with stones and thread battery fairy lights through it.

coldcomfortHeart · 06/11/2011 19:00

Was going to suggest fairy lights on a natural tree branch too- really eye catching. You could always lie the branch on the table rather than upright in a pot. you'd just need a good branch with lots of twiggy bits.

Oh I feel jealous now, I did a Christmas fair last year and had hoped to do it again but having a baby in June put paid to that idea!

Hey everyone - thanks for more advice and support!

I think a tree branch is going to be the go-er - I hadn't thought about attaching it directly to the table - bring on the cable ties!

If not, using bamboos on each edge of the table is a really clever idea as well.

I'm going to wrap boxes as presents and stack them up for height - glad to see that adding height is the done thing!

A bit pricey but how about something like this?

Good luck with your fair. I did my first yesterday :-)

DunderMifflin · 06/11/2011 19:35

I've already got some battery powered fairy lights from Ikea! That's when I found out that they didn't have the tree stand thingy I was really after!!

Thanks Meala - I might invest in one of those if I make a fortune at this one! Grin

How did your's go?! Any tips?!!

Smile The fair went well thanks apart from a last minute panic realising I had no float! I took along some of my work in progress to work on at quiet spells and people seemed interested in seeing how they were made.

It was nice to meet loads of other crafty folk from my area too.

your decorations look beautiful and I would be happy to pay £10 for 4.
