help me girls, I'm confrused!! I got a gorgeous card making kit from dh and dd for Chriss-ee-massy. Inside it is a heat it up tool and some embossing powder BUT the inkpads included in the kit are pigment ink colours red and black. So.... can you just use these pads or is there a particular product I should have??? I was going to just give it a go but thought I better check. Please help

Which kit is it? It sounds like the one i have, i use the red ink as i think the black dries faster.

how does embossing work? was looking at things today but it looked too technical to mev

You should be OK with the ink you have if you want to try the set out....next time you are passing your craft store get a tinted versa mark embossing pad.

Top tip....get some talc...sprinkle a little onto some cotton wool...wipe the cardstock over before stamping your image...helps to prevent static and your embossing powder sticking where it shouldnt!!!

Also heat your heat gun up for a few seconds before you aim it at the powdered covered image....helps it to seal better.

Good luck Kiwi.

thanks... girls in bed so off to play I have no idea what the set is now because I threw away the packaging. I'm going to grab the talc too (and I'm suddenly glad hubby still uses it despite the annoying sprinkles he leaves all over the bathroom floor ).

it was ok... a bit bubbly and, once heated, the embossing powder did not cover all of the print.

I stupidly made my first try on little tags - little did I know they would blow away and I would burn my fingers trying to hold them in place.

Get yourself some tweezers and practice on some scrap card....make sure you have the stamps well inked

also dont put heat gun too close to paper and ,ove it as soon as you see the powder change

If it's the one from argos, the pumkin ink pad is for embossing with gold stuff.

the black is for just stamping and then colouring in with pencils as far as my kit was concerned.

i haven't really stamped before but I do now know that you have to stamp with a certain colour before the powder stuff will look good.

Persevere and don't be scared. I did and although stamping is not for me, I produced some lovely cards from it.
