I need to make some money and have got pretty good at making cards. Is there anywhere, other than ebay, that I could sell hand made cards?

Somebody come round to my local baby and toddler group with a stall of home made cards to sell?

etsy - a site for selling & buying vintage and handmade goods. Not used it myself (yet).

One of my friends sells artwork on etsy and does very well. Her shop called is the castle on the hill There are some very cool shops on there, I plan on getting a fair bit of Christmas shopping done on there!

Have you asked in your local independent bookshop(s) and any gifty type shops? In my bookshop we're always looking for something a bit different.

TheOriginalFAB · 26/10/2011 20:59

All good ideas, thank you.

They sell handmade cards at our local library.

My local Budgens had handmade cards made by a local person amongst the commercial cards. Ask your local shops - some may support small local businesses.

Hi FAB! You could try Folksy which is the UK equivilent of Etsy but probably not so big.

The advantage of Etsy and Folksy over eBAy is that people go to them expecting to buy handmade goods and are prepared to pay more like their true value. With eBay, everybody is out for a bargain.

The downside is the listing fee and the commission.

The best way is probably to have multiple avenues for sales rather than to rely on one. What about a table at all the Christmas fairs in your area?

My husband might be able to take a box of cards to leave at his work. I will need to get even better at making them. I would be willing to take requests for personalised cards as well as making more general ones.
