I'm on the lookout for a craft blog that gives me lots of inspiration; you know the type, with pictures so pretty you just want to get down to the craft shop and get started. I like vintage, shabby, kitsch, cath kidston-y, americana, french type things (or like my lovely dh calls it, 'my crafty sh1t'.

I can knit and do general crafting but unfortunately no crochet or quilting. I'd be most grateful for your blog suggestions, thanks so much.

Do you have to have a Facebook or Twitter account to sign up to Pinterest?

Flubba · 19/10/2011 20:12

Yes china but I just made a twitter one and have done nothing with it.

OP, I think you might enjoy this blog. It sounds a bit twee from the title but is written by Alicia Paulsen who writes very engagingly about her crafting, family, home etc - she posts lovely pics and she also has things for sale ( check out the felt Xmas decs). Mostly it just looks fantastic and will provide lots of inspiration.

Terpsichore · 19/10/2011 20:36

Hmm, just checked that link I posted (on smartphone) and got a warning message - but it shouldn't be problematic. If you google her under Posie Gets Cozy (yes, see what I mean about twee? Grin) that will take you to the site. Still recommend it!

NoHunIntended · 19/10/2011 21:36

Thank you, Flubba, I have registered. If you can give me a quick rundown on how best to use it/get the most out of it, I'd be most obliged. Thank you.

Flubba · 20/10/2011 07:05

First things first is install your 'pin it' button. Then if you're ever on a website and see something you like, you can 'pin' it to your own boards (themes, essentially). I currently just have five 'boards' (homemaking, christmas, far and away etc etc).

Then, on pinterest itself, if you do a search for things you're interested in, it'll ping up all the pins people from all over have put under that category/word, then you can 'repin' any that take your fancy.

If you come across somebody again and again whose pins you like, you can choose to 'follow' that person, or just one of their particular boards, and every time they pin something new, it'll appear on your "people I'm following" boards, so you can re-pin if you like.

Initially pinterest give you a few people to follow based on a few bits of info you give them, but you can 'unfollow' them if they're not to your taste.

Enjoy! :)

overmydeadbody · 20/10/2011 10:13

Oh I love Pinterest. If anyone wants to follow me, or just have a look through my boards, I am here

I, in turn, am always looking for other people to follow, so if you want, link to your pinterest profile here. It really is such a good place for inspiration!

ChinaInYourHands · 20/10/2011 11:48

How long does it usually take to get a login once you request an invite?

It can take a long time the conventional method, but if you're invited by someone already on it, it's immediate afaik

ChinaInYourHands · 20/10/2011 13:24

Yes! I'm in! This website will be the end of me as a responsible mother... Grin

otmdb, am following you!

No, China, it will be the start - think of all those wonderful things we will make our DC, and all the pretty things we will put in their lives, making their world a cuter place! See! :)

overmydeadbody · 20/10/2011 16:48

yay!

Witchthis · 20/10/2011 21:33

Don't get me started re pinterst - bad bad mother! I'm there as stitch this if anyone want to make friends pop in. Just discovered Twitter too but finding it a bit crazy. Harder to find inspiration but easier to chat. Off to look at some of the blogs mentioned here!

Flubba · 20/10/2011 21:38

Hmm. Did a search for twitch (cos I'm fick and couldn't remember what you'd written! Blush) and was surprised by the profile.

Then checked and then did a search for stitch and there are 24 of you!! Which one are you? these are my boards if you're interested... :)
