Just finished a pair of socks... but I have to line a bag, re-weave a chair, do a tutorial for an applique cushion, sew buttons on a skirt, mount a series of knitting samples....

moominthecorner · 18/05/2011 21:33

Too many to count...but on the various needles at the mo...crochet jam jar cover, Baby jacket, crochet scarf, hexagon quilt, scrappy blue and White quilt, mixed yarn handbag ... I lose track. Oh dear.

Hopefully · 19/05/2011 21:05

Normally no more than one (sometimes two) per craft, iykwim. So I currently have one quilt (big hand pieced one that I'm in the middle of quilting), one knitting project (sweater for DS) and one garment (shirt for DP). Although I occasionally start another project if time/circs demand something be finished sooner.

To be fair, I do also have a couple of 'hibernated' projects that I don't count as WIPs (a couple of quilt tops, for example).

merrywidow · 19/05/2011 21:16

Grin at one per craft

I ordered some more yarn today but only because its discontinued and will disappear into someone elses stash if I don't get my hands on it first; Rowan Glimmer; tape yarn with gold paint on it ...devine

I want to see your blanket jacket... Sounds intriguing!

NorksAreMessy · 20/05/2011 06:38

hopefully I was seriously and genuinely amazed, until I read 'per craft'.
Does it count if you have just been thinking about it and maundering about and picking the materials up for about two months. I have a silver and bead project in my head that can't come out even if I sit holding the various bits and bobs.
Another one here with several quilts-in-progress
And I am guilty of 'I hate this now, it is hideous, what was I thinking, fling it in the back of the studio cupboard'
However, this week I have made a cake with a racing car on for a 26 year old, four beaded hearts for a new selling venture and helped 70 little girls to make bag charms (after school clubs)... If ONLY I didn't have a proper job, I would be in heaven!

Hopefully · 20/05/2011 06:55

i'll have you know that one per craft is very reasonable and sensible. I have totally convinced myself of this fact Grin

NorksAreMessy · 20/05/2011 06:59

I think it is very restrained.
My butterfly brain keeps saying 'this looks good, Norks, but if you made one with a different guage silver, or with blue fabric, or in oil instead of watercolour, or using japanese paper instead of handmade, etc etc etc,'
then I get so excited about the 'new improved ' version, I don't finish the original

jenniec79 · 20/05/2011 07:09

Far too many...

Knitting
2 blankets
3 socks (different pairs)
a shawl
a sweater
2 cardigans

Spinning
one big bag of green fluff on the way to wool to feed the knitting above!

Cross stitch
One a3 ish sized picture about 1/4 done and has been on the go for years - every so often I'll focus on it for a few days and get a couple of inches done!

Patchwork quilt (still in the planning stages, but the pile of old "events" t-shirts is now in the craft corner, so I guess it counts)

Machine sewn bag - all pieces cut out but only one panel finished.

That's all I can think of for now, there's probably more!

merrywidow · 20/05/2011 19:39

Moomin, when I have finished it, will post on profile; its very simple just one big rectangle bound edges with arm holes cut and bound ( not doing sleeves) I was inspired by the interesting fabric. it will be draped style

Bought another knitted cream throw from Ikea the other day ( had a voucher so freebie!) would make an interesting dress in a punky stylee, may use safety pins for seaming. I've done this before with two jersey rectangles and used hundreds of those tiny gold safety pins down the sides and shoulders then pliered them shut- very effective and no need for sewing

I have a latch hook rug that I started when I was pregnant with DD. She is now 5 Blush I think it is probably the first and last latch hook rug I do!

I also have on the go (but all started far more recently!):
a pair of gloves
a cardigan for me
a clothkits hat for DD

I usually have some cross stitch on the go, but don't at the moment for some reason. Have also been crocheting flowers for hairclips for DD but that is ongoing as she loses them as soon as I make them! I also have some yarn to knit her a cardi but will probably wait until the summer hols to start that.

moominthecorner · 21/05/2011 15:27

Sounds v creative - get posting!
I have a baby jacket I started for ds1 when I was pg. He's 5 now. My favourite is a quilt top I pieced by hand 8 years ago but is still waiting to be quilted. I've got boxes marked up UFOs there are so many. But I've finished 3 sewing swaps, made an advent calendar, an Easter garland, made a gingham teddy for DS1 and some crochet flowery things. Thank goodness for long commutes!

Niecie · 21/05/2011 16:19

Depends what you mean by projects. If you mean having the materials available and ready to go, probably far more than I would ever care to mention.

If you mean actually started

  • granny stripe blanket
  • jumper for me
  • cardie for me
  • jumper for DS1 - if I don't hurry it will be too small but at least there is DS2 to pass it on to.
  • hexagon crochet blanket
  • knitted square blanket
  • squares for MN knitted blankets
  • patchwork hexagon cushion
  • about 60% of a pair of socks - only started them to see if I could work out how to turn a heel (I could- hooray) but don't actually like the yarn much so don't actually want to finish the first sock much, let alone start the second.Blush

Just bought some yarn to make a shawl for a friend who isn't very well. She will probably have recovered by the time it is finished.

Oh and I went on a bag making course today, didn't finish in time and so that is now a WIP but I should be doing that now not listing all my other outstanding stuff, shouldn't I?!

Hate to think how much I have spent on yarns and fabrics I haven't quite got round to using yet.

moominthecorner · 21/05/2011 19:32

Ikwym niecie I'm having a sale of my excess stash on Monday and I'm a bit Blush by how much there is. It's built up over 20 years though and includes my mothers stash too but still. Blush

merrywidow · 21/05/2011 19:47

oh The Stash

Fabric
yarn
oil, acrylic,watercolour,inks,fabric paints
glitter,coloured,felt tip,crayons,pastels
ink pads and large collection of rubber stamp images
jewellry making supplies beads/findings and tools
books for inspiration
one felting machine
embroidery machine ( bought in a moment of utter madness on credit card )
two sewing machines
canvases
wood for collage projects
all types of glue/thread/tools etc

and I know every art supply & craft shop within fifty miles and wherever I go do a bit of internet research for suitable stores.

I plan journeys where I know there is a stop off for purchasing opportunities.

I will go without/watch the pennies on all other things just so that I can keep the stash updated and full of inspiration.

Now and again I will thin out and give some stuff to the school or friends daughters who are interested.

I actually find myself craving a craft shop fix now and then Blush

OP posts:
Niecie · 21/05/2011 20:51

There are worse things to crave.

We have suddenly become quite well blessed for craft things round here. We got Hobbycraft 5 mths ago plus we have an excellent LYS, a bead shop, a card making shop and 2 fabric shops.

Why is it that I can never find what I want though, and end up trawling the internet and going further afield? Grin

moominthecorner · 22/05/2011 15:05

I'm trying to go cold turkey and not buy anything for a while, not even at charity shops. I've found lots of stuff I'd forgotten about as I've been clearing out though, so there's plenty to use up!

Siikibam · 22/05/2011 23:20

A blanket I started more than 1.5yrs ago that needs the tail ends weaves in
A small (loomed) purse for my sister
A crochet bag
A Tunisian crochet jumper
A bead embroidered purse
A beaded purse
A small crocheted bag that needs ribbon (and possibly lining)
Flowers for a necklace I started last year!
A necklace waiting for a clasp
A bead embroidered bracelet

OH MY GOSH that is ridiculously long! Some I started long ago and put aside to do aomething else!!!

merrywidow · 22/05/2011 23:44

feeling better now I've read that lot Siikibam

Siikibam · 23/05/2011 22:41

Glad to help merrywidow :) now to work on cutting down that list - I'll be starting another portrait in the next few days, as well as a bracelet Blush
