Why would talk about Sizzix make you ill? Why would you be looking at posts about Sizzix if your not at all interested in arts and crafts? One would be led to beleive that you had far to much time on your hands....idle hands at that.

Creative memories are just that. Why shove all your photographs in a tacky old album when you can design pages that make the photographs look so much more special? We all have pictures that sum up a perfect day, feeling or occassion....why just hide them away in the dark recess of the storage cupboard when you can dispaly them beautifully?

You are a silly old fish if you are made to feel "ill" by such a trivial thing

My MIL makes her own cards very badly, and with her it's just cutting and sticking for adults ... my 4 year old cuts and sticks better than my MIL does. But she enjoys doing it, and I can understand the enjoyment (even if I don't like the end result!).

I have no urge to make cards myself (not creative enough, don't get the kick out of it that others do) but I had one that Jayzmummy made and it knocked the spots off anything I could have bought in a shop.

jayzmummy · 03/11/2005 09:44

thank you WWB

charliecat · 03/11/2005 09:47

I think you should try it. I tried cross stitching and spent 9 months slaving away at a LOVELY tiger. Try it...go on!!!!!!!!!!

jayzmummy · 03/11/2005 09:49

But could Cod manage to thread a needle with her flippers????????????????????????????????

NotQuiteCockney · 03/11/2005 09:52

Isn't cod's hobby: Being Annoyed By Things?

The only problem with that as a hobby is, there's no cool stuff to buy.

(I don't "get" the card thing either, but I knit, so who am I to talk?)

whats wrong with cutting and sticking for adults? i love doing it. very very relaxing. at family focus, i am in seventh heaven if the nursery teachers let me do a crafty bit after the kids have done them/lost interest.
im not particularly creative at all. but love doing crafty things for the pleasure of doing them.
three weeks a go, i made some eid cards. well, its eid today, and i still havent posted any of them. i did them coz i like cutting and glueing.

stitch · 03/11/2005 09:58

i like cross stitch too, but not counted cross stitch. and im not imaginative enough to design my own. so have to make do with kits designed for kids.

I only do craft stuff so I can buy little shiny things and keep them in individual boxes.

coppertop · 03/11/2005 11:52

I don't think I could make a good card if my life depended on it but I bought a hand-made card from MrsForgetmenotful and it was brilliant. It was a hundred times better than anything I could've found in a shop.

MrsForgetMeNotFul · 03/11/2005 12:02

!!!! Hello to my no.1 fan!

(Make that my ONLY fan!)

My carer has asked me to make her some cards...she sees this as Occupational Therapy...though she also knows it is encouraging me to hoard more stationary!!!

MrsForgetMeNotFul · 03/11/2005 12:04

COD should have a look at our card gallery....

MrsForgetMeNotFul · 03/11/2005 12:08

also....my dad bought a handmade card this year off of a website...a huge A4 boxed affair...and paid £17 for it!

For that he was able to have his own choice of verse...which was a lyric from a song mum loved...

when i make a card.... it takes me ages...i will never make serious money...i get absorbed ...i think totally about who it's for as i make it...it becomes a whole evening's project.

but in our gallery there are people on there who have BY WORD OF MOUTH...because their cards are SO GOOD...who are making a nice little pile of money......and deserve it too

QueenVictoria · 03/11/2005 12:26

Figured you would be good with a wooden spoon cod

SoupDragon · 03/11/2005 13:01

It is definitely cutting and sticking for adults - well, the card making typoe crafts anyway.

But that doesn't make it any less relaxing for those who enjoy it.

champs · 03/11/2005 13:56

cod -- dont be coy, i know there's a crafter inside just begging to be set free

ps look forward to your anti craft thread next month lol

zippitippitoes -- so you cant understand my posts, follow the links and you'll get what i mean, if not, you'll just have to get into crafting

didn't realise there were people scrutunising my craft posts and imagine waiting a whole month (that post in particular was from 15th October) to comment ahhh well, to quote a fishy mnetter : PAARRRRRRRRPPPP!!!

zippitippitoes · 03/11/2005 13:59

champs

I just picked it at random because I often see the threads with the word sizzix (sp?) in the title and then I've looked out of curiosity to see what it is

and then been bemused and fascinated by all the jargon it was just a chance that when COD posted this that I went to look at any old thread with sizzix in and saw your post and as it is completely foreign if you do don't do the cards I put it in

I meant to put your name but forgot

no hard feelings i hope

ps I've tried to look at this card gallery but maybe I'm thick but i can't ever get to see it?

champs · 03/11/2005 14:05

course not, i have an odd way of posting and speaking, dh finds it hillarious

and i meant wat i said about getting into crafts

oh and a sizzix is just a die cutting machine, used to get shapes which could be fiddly and or time consuming with scissors/craft knife

coppertop · 03/11/2005 17:51

See! I told you that you'd undercharged me!
