Quick crochet question.

Hi,
I am currently making a very large blanket for my dd in rows of double crochet stitches, I have been using various chunky yarns I've bought on the cheap. However I have several balls of double knit stuff from a project i've abandoned.
My question is if I crochet two balls of the same colour at the same time will it bulk out to match my chunky stuff or would it just look stupid.
Sorry if this is a stupid question and thanks for the help.

The only way to be sure is to try. If it does look very different and you don't like it, you could just try and do a few more stitches than you did on the previous rows. Or use a hook that is half a millimetre bigger, so it looks a bit more loose
I think crochet is a bit more 'forgiving' than knitting in that respect, although I would do the same with knitting squares.

I don't see why not, and you could have fun using different colour combinations Grin

If it doesn't work, you'll know within half a dozen stitches so undo and think again.

I'd agree with both comments. Crochet IS a lot more forgiving and it's worth a try, do a few stitches and see what it looks like. Worth the effort to save a bit of money and use up left over wool IMO.

Thanks for all your replies. I had a go and it looks fine so there are going to be a few more strange colours chucked into this blanket.
Its looking interesting to say the least as my dd has picked the colours herself and is choosing which order they go in. There a pinks next to greens and such. When I describe it it sounds horrid but it does seem to work.

Glad you gave it a go and it doesn't sound horrid at all. Your daughter will forever love that blanket, because it is 'her' blanket.

I agree! Doesn't sound horrid at all just individual and unique. Post us a picture when you are done.
