hands/feet imprint/casting kits

Hello
I would like to make a model of my baby's hands/feet using one of those kits that either make an impression or a model such as can be bought from Mothercare. I am afraid of wasting money in case it is too tricky to do. Has anybody tried these?

stellas as it just happens gave one to my sis a couple of days ago for newborn nephew

I had one bought for ds3 and that was 4 yrs ago, it has lasted
it was easy to use
and it is a lovely token of how tiny he really was
I done his feet in the plaster
pity they never had them around for my other kids

I bought a casting kit for my nephew. It was called Magic Custard and was fairly easy to do if you'vce got two people. (one to hold baby and one to make the cast!) I think it cost about £30. You mix up the custardy stuff in a tub and then put baby's hand or foot in for a minute or two and then remove. My nephew slept through it so can't be too bad. This makes a mould which you then pour the plaster into. I painted it gold and mounted it into a simple wooden box frame. I had enough left to do a cast of my son's hand. I know you can also get kits where it just makes an imprint. What did you have in mind? Imprint or cast?

I bought a cheap plaster cast kit from www.24studio.co.uk
It was about £5
I did it when he was 10 weeks old and it was tricky! Have you tried using paints instead? We did this at mum and baby group, and I have framed it!

I've been trying footprints of DS (12 wks) with ceramic paint on plates etc for Xmas pressies - v. tricky - DS wiggles too much.

So I have ordered some casting kits from www.hobbicraft.co.uk - very cheap, £6 & £4. They should arrive in the next day or 2.

Meant to say - I'll let you know what they're like!

The Cast In Time ones from Mothercare are meant to be good. We had DS1 and 2 "done" properly by Cast In Time at a craft fair but a friend has used the eMothercare set and got a good result from it.

We have them for the boys. Bought from studio cards for about a fiver each. However I have noticed our poundland also has them in

Thanks for all your suggestions. I'm going to try something but still not sure whether imprint or cast.
