How do you make cloth bunting?

I agreed to make some because I have a sewing machine that I never use and I thought this would be a good idea to get it out to sew something simple. But.... I haven't got a clue on how to make them. I'm sure it simple but.... Blush
I will say thank you when I read the replies but I'm off now to make the Hairy bikers cauliflower cheese and do some dread ironing while DS is at a Beavers thingy. Smile

Really easy. Cut assorted material into triangles. Use pinking shears for this (so you don't have to hem each edge) to prevent the material fraying. Then get your long piece of ribbon and sew triangles on with spaces of about 10/15cm.
Hope this helps :)

or...cut triangles and sew 2together. Turn right way round and iron flat. Sew in some bias binding or cotton tape.

I prefer the sew-two-triangles-together approach - if you're using patterned fabric it means that the bunting is reversible (useful if it's not going to be hung against a wall), rather than having a 'wrong' side.

It's also really easy to make bias binding if you're in a budgeting frame of mind - buying metres and metres of the stuff in the craft shop does add up to quite a lot more than making it from scratch.

Yes you could use wonder web to attach the two triangles together instead of sewing. How easy would that be!

Like the wonder web idea. What is bias binding? Blush

its fabric on a long strip, but bias is cut on the diagonal rather than straight on the fabric. It comes in loads of colours, from about 20p upwards a meter.

Think morticia adams dress, thats cut on the bias so bends round curves better.

What Kryshees says. Although, for bunting, you can also just use ribbon. You need to finish the top edge of the triangles with pinking shears, or fold the ribbon over them, but it would work. Bias binding probably easier though.

Bias Binding sooo much cheaper here than in sewing shops. The cotton stuff on that link is a bit see through but ok for most jobs.

I made bunting got my friend's wedding and used folded over ribbon, put the bunting flags in the middle then sewed it down :)

You can alos actually buy cotton bunting tape on ebay, I bought 100m of the stuff and it was cheaper than ribbon and quicker than making bias binding. I folded it in half with the triangles inside and sewed the lot up.
