Tracking down buttons

Hello there - is there anyone out there with advice on sourcing unusual buttons? The buttons on my favourite winter coat are metal completely covered with black thread and the thread is worn through on most of them now. I'd love to replace the whole lot but can't find anything similar in any shops, and a very different style would look odd.

Has anyone used a really good website or do you know of a button-matching service (does such a thing exist?). Please help me to be thrifty and keep my coat going for another year!

Try Duttons for buttons or Etsy.

Sorry, don't think Duttons actually sell online. The shops are wonderful, but only if you can get to them!

Whereabouts are you?

I love josy rose for all thing haberdashery. This is their button page.

I read an article about duttons for buttons in a craft magazine a while back. I think that if you sent them one of your buttons, they would be able to send something back similar or possibly a selection of samples?

What about self-cover buttons in a similar fabric?

Thanks everyone for those tips - and apologies for the delay in posting. I'm in Yorkshire, and will see if there are any branches of DFB near me, particularly if they may be able to do all the work for me! Failing that, self-cover might well be the way forward. Josy Rose also looks lovely.

Oh, oh - Duttons for Buttons are entirely in Yorkshire! I feel a shopping trip coming on. Thanks again, all.
