How to crochet zigzags

Colourworld · 16/02/2011 09:48

I would like to learn how to crochet a zigzag. I am not experienced in crocheting so do not understand most of the instructions unless there are pictures next to them. I would rather watch a detailed video though. This is what I want www.flickr.com/photos/janpugs/3635977626/ I have checked the link to the instructions but I do not understand the crochet language so find it very hard to understand.
Thanks a lot!

Hi, check out attic24's blog. Scroll down the left side to patterns and tutorials. Click on 'neat ripple pattern.' She explains things so well and has lots of pictures to help. Good luck. I'm doing her granny stripe at the mo.

Ooohh! I am doing the ripple blanket at the moment!! It's fab!

Thanks antshouse and chinwag! Her blog is gorgeous. The girl (Lucy) is so talanted. I love the zigzags and the crocheted blankets and the japanese flowers. I wonder how much time does it take to finish one flower or a square for the blanket?

the ripple blanket is lush and once you have got the hang of it, it's very easy. I've made a crib size one and the granny stripes blanket. Both took about a week of evenings to do. I used lots of scraps of yarn out of my stash.

I'm doing the ripple blanket too!! I'm only a beginner but have found once you've done your first couple of rows it's actually very easy.

Those blankets are really nice. I need to buy yarn and then start practising. I have got wool which is not good when you make a mistake.

I have found on Lucy's blog that it took her 4-5 months to finish the blanket, the ripple one.

I made a ripple cushion cover from Attic 24's pattern - it was my first project and it worked! Her tutorials are excellent. I think Attic 24 is going to take over the world one day....

Colourworld · 17/02/2011 15:39

spikemomma, thanks for the link. This pattern is crocheted by the same woman. As a beginner I find her crocheting a bit too fast so and other people. Unlike attic24 craftsmastery is not that good at giving instructions. I wish attic24 had a video. I will search through youtube tonight whether I can find anything better. I need to see clearly how the angle is crocheted.

Quiltingmoomin, she is indeed :)

Very nice blog. You can do so many beautiful thing with a hook. I need to learn crocheting as well.

This morning I went to my local shop to buy some wool which was so expensive. The shop assitant had advised me to buy acrylic instead. Is acrylic good for crocheting? I have looked through attic24 blog and looks like Lucy buys very good quality yarn.

I use this range, and it's fine for me. I think Attic 24 uses it too

Thanks chinwag. I am going to buy acrylic yarn later today for one project (a hat for my DS) and then whatever is left I will use for crocheting.
