Socks, anyone?

After watching me faffing about with my current sock knitting addiction, 2yo DD has requested her own 'pretty holey socks'. I told her I would do her some when I finished my current pair. Promised, in fact.

Problem is... I am now approaching the cuff of my latest fantastical toe-up creation and have yet to find a pattern that caters for her size. Can anybody help?

She takes a size 8 (Shock) and baby-style socks are no good as they don't seem to cater for walkers (or sprinters!), but I can't find any girl's lace style socks that aren't just a monstrosity! I have tried figuring out a way to adjust my adult patterns, but it's all too complicated for my tired mind and I fear they will come out looking more like a tea-cosy or something than a pair of delicate but hardy lace socks.

Would greatly appreciate some pointers in the right direction, thanks. Smile

p.s. sorry for waffling on...

are you on ravlry? 'knitting vingtage socks' seems to have a few child size patterns

MrsNoggin · 07/02/2011 20:36

I'm not on Ravelry, no. Is it brilliant? Should I be?

Thank you very much for the pattern. They're not quite right for us, but the pattern is toe-up, which is my new favourite thing. So I can comandeer that and fiddle with the lace pattern.

Can't seem to make the book link work Confused.

Try this link to a free pattern (I think you have to register with the website):
