Gifted fabric - ideas please!

I've been given a couple of yards of some amazing vintage fabric - see profile. It's a brightly coloured wool tweed. Now given that I'm not going to make Boden-style mini skirts, and am not proficient enough to make handbags - any ideas/links? I'd like to make some small cute things.

All I can think of is the lavender-heart sachets you see everywhere but there must be something more original. What can I make? Or is it too awful?

The fabric is lovely - it is very clothes-like, isn't it? I think lavender bags is a lovely idea. Also what about small cushion covers.

Equally you could get two or more solid colours (pink and blue / white) and make a simple 9-square patchwork quilt with this fabric as the main focus.

I quite like your fabric actually. I am not sure I would want it as a skirt either.

I am struggling what to suggest and the only thing that comes to mind is maybe some cushions or alternatively, a throw, maybe for using outside as tweed is quite tough. Perhaps you could back it with fleece so that you could either use it as something to go on the ground or you could wrap up in. Not small and cute I know.

How about a draught excluder? Somthing like this

Or a Tote bag rather than a hand bag? Something like this? Much simpler than what I would call a handbag.

Brooches - although you would make a lot with a couple of yards!! like this or this? There are lots of designs on Etsy if you search on tweed brooches.

He is very cute isn't he? I didn't realise he is a door stop until I was having another look. I quite fancy one myself!

Although in pink tweed it would have to be a 'she' chicken obviously!

I have a To Do list as well. Unfortunately, above all the craft stuff is "sort the house out" [wail]

Although surely sorting out the fabric drawer counts as sorting the house out... [cunning]
