Does anyone have an etsy or folksy shop?

I'm thinking of opening an etsy or folksy account to sell my hand knitted accessories.

Does anyone sell through etsy or folksy? If so, how good are the sales?

I can't help noticing that most sellers on folksy have low feedback numbers, which kind of suggests sales are slow. (Or maybe sales aren't too bad but people don't leave feedback?)

I love etsy and have bought from them, but most sellers are in the US. Has anyone got experience of selling on etsy and do you think being a UK seller puts buyers off?

I'm just generally wondering whether either of these websites is worth the effort of photographing, listing, etc...

Another idea if you're interested in looking elsewhere is Artfire they are FANTASTIC and setting up shop with them is a breeze! They offer such an easy user interface and even labels you can mark your items with like "sale" or "Buy One Get One Free" and even voucher codes you can create and then advertise on your blog. They are more expensive to start off with than the other sites, you pay $15 per month for a shop, but you get so much for that $15 and also you can list as much as you want and they dont take any final value fees or commisions so pays off in the long run. They are more of an international site similar to Etsy, but you dont need to be adding new items all the time to get seen on their website.

I think you can try a 30 trial so thats what I'd recommend you start off with if you fancy trying somewhere new.

I didn't make any sales on Etsy (didn't try Folksy), I had high hopes but alas it was not to be! However, what I did do was set up my own website, which I find is more cost effective (especially if you use the free versions), I can now sell on ebay and Facebook as well as from my own website and all sales and products and stuff are all centralised in my chosen ecommerce system..which is Sellr.com btw. I have found it to be really easy to set up and I have used one their free templates and if I have any problems with anything, I know that I can call them or email them and they are more than happy to help me..and they seem like normal people which is a relief - not too 'techy' as that would make my head explode!
Don't be afraid to start your own shop. I found signing up to etsy quite restrictive and I had no interest, but as soon as I switched to Sellr and started promoting myself and selling on Ebay, the sales began to come in! Onwards and Upwards!
