Glass grinder

My lovely DH sent me on a stained glass course in the summer, then bought me a starter kit for Christmas. It doesn't come with a glass grinder, or a stone.

I'm looking for a grinder but can't find one for less than £100. Has anyone made do with a stone? Or anyone know where to get a cheaper one?

Are you sure you need one? My SG tutor felt it was more important to develop the skill of precise cutting. I did it for several years and, while I would have liked to have had one, never actually got round to getting one and managed fine without.
What I WAS really tempted by was a computor program that helps you draw up your designs, but I was too mean to buy it.
have fun - I really enjoyed SG and still get a lot of pleasure from the panels I made.

Oh, but what about sharp edges? Do you just leave them?

but they're covered by the lead came, aren't they?

Yes, but I meant for handling them before, and manipulating into the came. The instructors said it was important, bu if it's fine without I'll do without!
Did you not find you cut yourself a lot?

I think if I'd had to smooth the edges I wouldn't have done anything, it sounds like a real PITA. Perhaps it was a Health and Safety thing they had to say. I think I cut myself once, and not badly, just make sure you have plasters around.
