Painting a wooden dollhouse

Dd wants to paint yer wooden dollhouse and I'm wondering which paints would be best.

Dh thinks she should use sample pots f emulsion, but I thnk emilsion might be a bit gooey and tricky to manage on the fiddly bits. Would ordinary childrens' poster paints do if I then glazed the lot with PVA or clear varnish?

Dd is 7 BTW and has never done this sort of project before.

We used the sample pots as your DH suggested & found them to be fine, though used fine brushes on the "fiddly bits".....DD was the same age

we also found some wrapping paper will make good "feature" wallpapers, & you can also find stuff online to print off.

DD even made some rugs, by printing off rug designs found online, onto iron on motif paper, & baking with iron on fuse, I also made her some quilts this way too, but used wadding & narrow lace trim for those

backing them with fuse

Blush backing them with Fusing/interfacing

I love the idea of papering the inside, rather than painting it. Also the rugs - I was going to back scraps of napped fabric with interfacing, hadn't occured to me to print off rug designs.

I recently did up my DD's dollhouse and you can get some free wallpapers from these sites that you just print out. I also printed off some wooden floor patterns and laminated them to give them a glossy look. If you do paint I would also use emulsion.
